No problem, I had Tavares as #2 on my current list so I agree he is probably better served taking him than whoever is up next from prior draft. I broached the topic with the rest of the committee as I was still on the clock. Taveras was one of the five guys I was looking at though as well. Woodruff was my #6, but when that Stewart projection came out, I re-examined my first and second tier of players again. I saw Woodruff received the favorable projection he did so I had to roll with him. But there were three total OF on my list. Taveras, one I think Hayes may be leaning towards, and a third one who I think will fall to the Summer where I may look to take him if he is doing well. I need to start drafting hitters. My reserve roster favors pitchers by a count of 18 to 8. And that doesn't include Woodruff who I am just assigning directly to the active roster as my #3 behind Tanaka and Conley. Unless Finnegan gets a good projection, which moves Woodruff and Ryu to my #4 and 5 spots.

I'm pretty sure you all can blame yourselves for him waiting until his assigned day. I think I may wait until the 23rd.

I debated for a couple of days on who I would choose between Toles and Mitchell White. I wasn't sure if he'd last this long.
Nice pick Mark.

If you ever pick before Rich, and you're debating between a Dodger and a non-Dodger prospect and wondering which might make it to the next round/draft, just take the Dodger player. Cause Rich won't let them slip, and also pissing him off makes his hick accent thicker. It's hilarious!

I debated for a couple of days on who I would choose between Toles and Mitchell White. I wasn't sure if he'd last this long. Nice pick Mark. Last year on the MLB Network, the panel scrambled to find out more about this guy who popped up in the second round. John Manuel of BA then proceeds to glow about him. I wrote him into my list right then and there. Sickels had a great report on him this winter too. Same with Fangraphs this winter. Then, today, my heart dropped when BP decides to throw out the Dodgers list and there's a section called "helium" and they graded him as someone shooting up the lists. With 4 picks to go in front of me, I was certain I wasn't going to get him and kicked myself for not taking him in the 4th last year. Maybe being a sophomore eligible, just returning from TJ prospect scared people away, but I'm thrilled to get this guy into the fold. No way he lasts until this summer and gets back to me for a third time.

That's the sixth Dodger taken in this Winter Draft. At worst, they will comprise 20% of the players taken, but it may go higher. You all are decimating Rich's Summer Draft prospect list.

I despise the Dodgers. But I respect their farm system at the moment, I was really high on Mitch White and Kiebert Ruiz. Both players have a considerable amount of upside. Was hoping to possibly have a shot at one/both of them in the summer. I have never drafted a dodger, out of personal bias, but both wouldve been really high on my list if my pick was later in the draft.

There are certainly higher ceiling guys out there, and I was tempted. But I have fond memories of watching shitty webcasts of Andrew Moore dominating fools while he was at Oregon State, so yeah, I went there.

A lot of nice picks being rattled off here, shortening my watch list for the Summer Draft

Since Hayes took my top target, I now have to figure out a backup. Luckily I have a week, so I can see three more team projections before my pick is due.

The longer he stayed on the board, the more I wrestled with my pick. It came down to control as the final decider. I kept thinking back to that day I traded for Stephenson. I swore he was going to figure out his control issues and become a stud in my rotation. Then I started thinking about what percentage of high ceiling prospects actually totally overcome their control issues. One can easily make the argument that Staumont has the highest ceiling of any player drafted so far. I hope Hayes has good luck with him and I hope I don't regret playing it safer this time with White. On a side note, in my opinion, this has been one of the most complete drafts since I've been here. I see a lot of future MLB talent here.

I see a lot of future MLB talent here. He almost didn't make it to any of you. As Connor can attest to, he was most likely my choice earlier in the draft. But when the Stewart projection came out, I had to change up my plans. Woodruff wasn't even in the Top 5 players I was considering (but he was #6 and the only other player I had in my top remaining tier I wasn't actively looking at). Staumont was the only pitcher in that list and his upside is equal to or greater than any other player in this draft. But I think there's like a 90% chance he ends up in the bullpen. Even when I brought up the topic of not drafting from last year's MLB Draft for the Marlins, I only sent two names to the committee: Taveras and Staumont. Those were two of the five names I was looking at for my pick. The other three are still out there. Hayes knows one and Connor knows one. The fifth I hope makes it to me this Summer. Still a young kid in Rookie Ball so I think I have time to pop him in a few months. I just can't believe Staumont fell as long as he did. Been on my prospect list for years and I never pulled the trigger. Once BA and Sickels listed him as the #1 Royals prospect, I knew he wouldn't make it through this draft.

Just letting you all know that I am not intentionally holding up the draft. I am deep in trade talks for Strasburg and the outcome of those will determine my pick. But as soon as I know whether I am making this deal or not, I can post a pick.

I debated on taking a player and hoping that Albertos would be there at #5 when I picked this Summer, but with the helium that he has right now I didn't want to risk it.
Before the good offer for Piscotty came in I planned to draft an RP who is usable now, but after that deal and then Brian getting me wondering about the package I could get for Strasburg and my subsequent trade of him, I decided to go all upside with this pick.

I think most just missed the fact that he pitched in the United States this year so they weren't looking at him yet.

Nice pick of Laureano. He was one of the three OF along with Taveras I mentioned before. A very "Jim" pick. Some decent upside with a decent floor. Easily confused with a "grinder".

I was told that Haniger wasn't draft eligible since I once drafted him. I knew I remembered you drafting him. Yup, and while he was underperforming with the Brewers and I was in a roster crunch, I released him. (I know, stupid). Then I believe someone (LAD or SF?)claimed him and since cut him perhaps?

Awesome that Patrick's first move since returning is a rare "double ineligible" draft pick, which I think is unprecedented in NSBL history.
Suck it, Patrick!
Love,
