To be honest I was looking at someone else for about a week I really wanted, but Joe kindly broke my heart by telling me not eligible. Thanks A**hole and I say that with a smile Joe. As for one thing I new vlad jr wouldn't even come close to me, I also didn't think Alvarez would either even know I was only the 7th pick, so didn't even count on it. Very nice picks so far and starting to realize what Joe said Drafting in this league has become amazing, but also harder to get those gems and players you would think will fall to you.

I can't wait to draft. We've had so many good picks, I can't wait for y'all to look at mine and go "WTF?!?" Well, you're up. And if I don't say "wtf" when I see it, you're keeping the "LAA John" name. Challenge accepted.

I want Scott to pick so badly. It gets so exciting when the draft gets ahead of schedule. Imagine if all the picks are good until I get to pick! Oh I'm so excited to potentially ruin the early part of this draft. There are so many floor guys I can add to my roster. It's gonna be a tough call to take a shot at a ceiling guy or a floor guy. Freeing up that money in the Porcello deal really gives me options now. I can start adding prospects I like, useful floor guys with a little upside left, or just be a complete idiot! So much fun! Required drafting is the best! We should have more required draft picks in the summer. I picked Sean lol ahead of schedule. I would have last night, I actually checked to see if Houston picked 8 min before they did and then logged off the computer. or I would have picked last night.

Damnit Pat! Soto was totally my #1 target. I didn't have a lot of high hopes that he'd reach me, but he was #3 or 4 on my list after Alvarez and Vlad.

Not gonna lie, Soto was the guy that would have made me make a legit pick in this draft. I'll have some crazy thing I've cooked up posted by the end of the day.

With your reputation in this league I'm already questioning my pick Drafting isn't my problem. It's the trades. I'm historically pretty decent at picking names out of a hat. I'm just not very patient. Also, you're an idiot.

Sorry, LAA John. He was totally on my radar. College guy who tore it up after the draft. I didn't have him as one of my prime targets, but I was tracking him. Damn. My main problem was I didn't research who was available enough. I had the time, I just didn't feel like researching. I drafted Peters in MLBSA last year (albeit in a late round, like 6th or 7th) and really started to like the kid. Yeah, it's the Pioneer League, but those numbers he put up are sick. The chances of him flaming out are much higher than him reaching the majors, but that's ok. I'll take a shot here.

So far all good picks! I had Juan Soto high on my list, nice pick Pat. My top 2 targets (I realistically thought to be available at 12) are still there...im sure I just jinxed myself...

I like the Jazz pick! He was on my final list...good names are tough to pass up, especially when the good name is a young toolsy short stop!

Everyone of the guys drafted has been on my top 30. Was hoping a few would slip to thru until Summer. Draft worse jerks
Although I'm glad Sean was able to add back to his alphabet soup team of players with Jaszzzzzrado

Greg Allen was my primary target and I think he may be the biggest sleeper in the draft so far. I would have liked to have him between Verdugo and Aquino in my future OF. More than that, after trading Akil Baddoo, Allen would have softened the blow of that loss. That said, he likely wouldn't have fallen to me, nor should he have. Solid pick there. I went to a game in 2015 to watch Francisco Meija and Allen was playing. I didnt really review the rosters before I went but Allen stood out as a legit stud. Looked better than Verdugo who he was playing against.

I think the winter time is a great time to find very high upside players. There were a few younger guys I was looking at alot (one specifically). But despite Strahm being a ready now guy I think he has considerable upside. Hopefully he doesnt end up in the pen, or Id be kicking myself for passing on some possible future top prospects for a LHRP....but hopefully his changeup improves and he keeps being able to locate that nasty FB/CV combo.

I was looking at Strahm, but this knocked him down... scroll down to #2. ...well that doesnt definitively say Dayton Moore expects him to be in the bullpen, just he expects him to be excellent again. Most all ive read on him says he will be competing for a spot in the rotation. Given his arsenal, and who he will be competing with I think there is a strong chance he is in their rotation. However, how his stuff plays stretched out and his durability are still lingering factors into his future as a possible RP...

That's what I was reading too, and, figuring where I was drafting this year, thought you couldn't really call it a miss if the downside was an electric RP. With the lack of SP in MLB, this guy has to be valued as a SP and I still think he earns that shot.

I don't disagree with either of you. It's why I try to draft for upside when I can, cause a failed starter still has a good shot to be a good RP. But Strahm is already on the verge of losing that shot at the rotation, I feel. I just worry that Strahm may have pitched himself out of the rotation. More and more we see these starters get their first cup of coffee as an RP, and then Management decides he did so well there they don't want to mess with him.

His only fault is that the Royals are in their final year of their window, so he may start out in the pen, but he's not out there for long. If you happened to have listened to the BA podcast about the Royals system, you might be making the argument that he becomes the second best SP taken in our winter draft. I just don't think that the future re-building Royals waste a top flight LH arm in the pen, because he's done nothing to pitch himself out of a rotation spot. If it isn't in KC, a bunch of teams are going to make a play for him.
