Pretty excited to get Stanton for under 40 million. He and Gallo are going to put the fear of Zeus into the pitchers of the NL Central. Now I just need pitching. Ah. I see you are going with the Tracy Kienast methodology of "I'm rebuilding this offseason and tearing it down.....oh wait- NOW I'M CONTENDING AGAIN!!!11!!1" Usually works for that rascal. Best of luck with it. JIm

Best of luck with it. JIm I deserve that. In my defense though I don't think I ever said I was contending this year just cause I signed Stanton. I just wanted him in place for when I am competing and I have no desire to rollover a bunch of dead money. I'd rather use it, keep my win total respectable, and come back stronger in 2020.

Colby gets Shohei @ 7/$48.2/no.
The second largest contract in league history (behind Trout a couple days ago).

If Ohtani wasnt 25 and a dual threat no way I'd commit to that large of a contract for someone with such a small track record but since he's above average at pitching and hitting, it seemed like a risk worth taking. He fills two roster spots with one player and being able to have him during his prime with the rest of my young core coming up made sense to me.

Evil Braves: Brag about getting a closer Good Braves: Remain silent, no one overpays closers anymore, especially in a sim that will misuse him

In truth, I don’t need Kershaw and Posey in this team, Colby. But they bring the sex. The hot, hot sex. JIm

Looks like someone’s therapist gave him a new mantra. Everyone is in denial. I'm just getting with the program. I could say "everything is on fire." Nunya wanna hear dat. Everything is fine. Joe is sitting there like "I'm so glad I only paid 38/year for Stanton." While the cost per WAR contract on Trout was not just significantly better by comparison, it's almost embarrassingly superior. It's math like that making me question whether or not anyone actually understands what is broken about our systems right now. Everything is fine. So I'm just being told to sit on all $55M of my cap space. It's implicit that's how I'm being told to rebuild. Everyone in the artificial bubble just spending and hoping it all works out. It's super cool to have all this money! Nothing could possibly go wrong after hard capping your liquidity and sinking more than 25% of your total payroll into 1 guy! Everything is fine. It's fine! It's just fucking fine! It's all lots of fun! WoRkS pErFeCtLy! Everything is fine.

Are the AL teams taking free agency off? No. Bidding just went outrageously high. And TBH I completely spaced out Wednesday/Thursday and let the bidding fade on one or two of the guys I bid on.

Every year, I like tinkering around with the amount of money spent prior to tier 2 starting. If I'm not mistaken, we just hit $290M per year and surpassed the 21% mark of total money available to spend with plenty of time to push that to 23-24%. With that said, the league is still swimming in cash and the middle tier guys will land up being the ones grossly overpaid in annual salaries whereas the tier 1 guys land up overpaid in length of contract. For the second year in a row, I sit on the sidelines while being entertained and wisely restricted from my own ability to make bad decisions. I, of course, was the GM who decided that it was smart to pay Tanner Roark 16.95M (through 2020) in 2017. I'm still licking those wounds. In 2019, he will be the most costly swingman in NSBL history.

As the guy that signed Michael Pineda, I can say wounds taste disgusting.

Love the Abreu bidding. It’s like a slap fight. If they all wore pajamas, it’d be a damn slumber party. The ice cream is in the freezer, ladies.

Adam Wainwright thinks you may have overlooked his $27MM salary when anointing Roark. Or maybe you just figured he would t be on the 25 man roster at all.

1. Feeling pretty good about the much-maligned Buster Posey contract now.
2. Week 2 is already a dumpster fire. Unlimited up-bids is making this insane.
3. Hey Sean, considering I was a good sport about it for the better part of a year now, could you maybe change your avatar to something other than my face? Plus, my defense is actually one of the better ones in the NL now, especially over your rag-tag organization.

You were a good sport. I’ll craft a new one tonight after work.
This dumpster fire is glorious and beautiful. I’m legit torn about how I feel about this T1 system. I prefer the gambling of blind bidding. The complete abandonment of psychological warfare has been fascinating to watch.
At least we know who’s circumcised now.

I’m pretty sure signing Trout was an actual sexual experience. Exciting in the moment.
