I like the Mahle pick. I was hoping he might make it to my pick at the end of the round. He has looked good so far this season.

Anyone else notice that there has yet to be a single trade of draft picks since this draft started? That's strange. I think some of that is a testament to how deep the real MLB Draft was. No one feels the need to give something up to move up. I'm still holding out hope that I can deal a couple players to a contender for a 4th or something...

I was hoping wentz would have made it to me in the next round I think he will be a great SP some day. It may be 3-4 years but I have seen him play and can see the potential.

I completely reversed me recent trends of going for youth and upside and instead took a 24 year old AAA righty. I love his numbers, but I worry about him staying in the rotation. So far he has done everything required to remain a starter, but doing that in AA (he's only had two AAA starts) is a lot different than doing it in the majors. At the least, I expect him to be a solid RP for cheap.
It was between Stewart, another SP, and Alcantara who went the pick before me. I love Alcantara's K numbers, but those BB numbers scare me, so I might've passed on him anyways, even if he'd been there.

I've been watching Stewart. He was one of my targets if I was able to land a 3rd or 4th rounder. Good pick.

Gowdy was on the list of guys I was looking at this round. Like where he's at with his 3 pitch mix and size.

Jackson was at the top of my list for quite a while leading up to the draft, but I talked myself out of him based on the combination of poor hitter development presented by Stanford and the Mariners. A lot of value in that pick at this point in the draft.

I think I stole Rich's guy. Rich loves upper level minor leaguers with limited upside and a decent floor. Throw in the fact that he's a Dodger, and that's enough to get Rich hard.
No wonder he logged in but then left without making a pick.
Admittedly, the thought of stealing Rich's target did play into my decision.

I was a little surprised Reynolds was still around when I picked. i just got back from California/Vegas last night. I had been keeping track of the draft while I was gone but I hadn't updated my own list since I took Bader on the day I left. 29 picks in 6 days. Good job guys. There's been a lot of good value picks in the 2nd round.
Joe, I like the Stewart pick. I don't know if he's got a rotation spot in the future or not. It depends on how he handles AAA. If he gets a cup later this year he'll probably pitch in the pen. It never hurts to have a guy with starter and relief ratings. I'd have taken a close look at him if he'd been there in the 3rd but he was a ways down on my list of guys available. Sorry to disappoint you.
On second thought, nah, I'm not sorry.

Son of a B.
Muller was my #1 target remaining and the other guy I was thinking of when I took Stewart. My goal was Muller later in this round and Reynolds in the next. Then a Dark Horse in the 4th. Back to the drawing board I guess.

That brings an end to my draft this season. Did something different and went 100% High school players this year after hedging my bets with 2 college picks from the 2016 draft with my 3rd and 4th last year.

Sure am. Hope it doesn't cost me. Mostly it's just the current year RL draftees because I make my draft lists by bookmarking all existing minor/major league eligible players. I denote whether they are eligible in one or both leagues and delete the bookmark once they are taken in both.

That's what I have been doing this year with real life draftees. I have a list in Excel, and when they are taken in one league, I change the color of the cell with their name (depending on which league) and then if they're gone in both I just delete the whole line.

Sorry guys. Was just heading out the door for a short beach trip when Connor e-mailed me. I really have no idea who I'm picking, so I'm going to need to research it late tonight at the beach.
It's probably not going to be until tomorrow morning until I pick. Sorry again,
JIm

Rumor has it that Marcos Diplan is planning not to sign with Tampa, and instead will enroll in community college for a year and hope for a better slot next season.
Sorry Connor.

Kyle Barraclough is eligible with only 4 years in the minors and only one MLB season prior to the start of the 2016 season.

I like the Banda pick. I was just trying to trade for him in another league. He looks like he is turning the corner at the right time.

I had been considering both Banda and Logan Allen for my pick; thanks for making my decision that much easier guys!

Probably a little bit of a stretch as Buddy dropped in the real draft to the second round but I'll take a gamble on him here.

In the first two rounds, I wasn't drafting for need. I simply took the two highest ranked guys on my board and both were SP; a RH and a LH. In the third round, I really wanted to come out of this draft with a good OF prospect. When I missed out on Acuna in the 1st round, I set my sights on Baddoo, a potential 20/20 CF drafted by the Twins. I wanted to see him sign first and he did. If he can stay at CF, I will be thrilled, but, overall, I feel good about getting a starting OF out of a third round pick in an otherwise thin draft class. Overall, I like the three (Paddack, Banda and Baddoo) players I've landed, although none are household names and they required deeper research.

Im out of town and wasnt able to keep up with the draft the last couple days...but apparently you sluts took all the guys i wanted...my list really shrunk. Francisco rios was who i wanted the most, i was getting more excited by the day for him. Fuck you joe, good pick. Ill have my pick up in a few hours if i have the time to do some research.

Ha ha ha ha ha! I was actually looking at Lambert myself, but the whole "Rockies" thing scared me off. I passed on Riley Pint in the other league for the same reason. I'll trade you Rios after the season for your 2017 1st and a Lambert though.
