This is arguably one of the best researched drafts league-wide that I've seen since I started. Really like the two SD picks, as well as most of the names taken in round two.

Drury and Barreto were both on my short list of guys id like to add this draft. Excellent picks.
Names are quickly disappearing from my list.

I wanted Drury as well. I more than likely would of taken him if he was available but I knew it would be tough for him to make it to me.

Going long ways away and big upside here. He could flame out or turn into a stud, either way I'll be waiting a while on Castro to find out.

Just got home. Sorry guys, had Travis not drafted Brandon Drury, I would've had my pick up lickety split. As is, he was my clear cut pick here, so I'm going to need time to research, and I won't have time until this evening after our many children are in bed. So if you're actively checking in for a pick, I wouldn't get serious until 10PM at least. If you're mad, just blame Travis JIm

glad i made some people upset with my pick Dariel looks like a good snag as well. Though I can't root for him, since I just signed fellow BAL Cuban Henry Urritia. And nice timing on Barreto. Just opened the season with multiple 4 hit games. He was on my short list, maybe if you had picked earlier...

Wall was definitely one of my targets to try to solidify my 2B situation. That's a nice pick.
And Harrison was on my radar as a possible 4.29 pick if he'd slipped that far. I have doubts that he'll develop, but at that pick, it would have been good value and worth the risk.
My list dwindles daily.

I felt the same way last year, with no clear replacement for Kendrick at 2b. I hate overpaying at 2B. I played a hunch and took Brian Dozier at 4:14. The pick promptly earned honorable mention for the worst pick in the 2013 draft. Now he has a 348 .450 .799 alash line and an OPS+ of 122 in real life. You never know where you'll find gold.

There are certain players you just have a gut feeling about. Kopech was one of them for me. It's a funky delivery for sure, and it might need refining, but something tells me he's going to be a big sleeper in this draft. LOVE THAT PICK!

I was worried I was going to hold up the draft but I guess I could of waited a bit longer. Kopech was not my original pick but I feel pretty good about him now. His delivery is funky but it appears to be easily correctable stuff. I think the talent is there, he just needs real coaching and he should be great. Reports of him hitting 100 mph in some workouts but apparently its never been confirmed.

Monte Harrison is somebody I've seen play some in HS. Lee's Summit West has played in the tournament my HS alma mater hosts every year. He is a tremendously gifted athlete in general. I would consider him a 5-tool player because he can do a lot of things very well. I can relate a story about what kind of person he is. In last year's (2013) tournament there was a rain delay and most of the players from my alma mater had left between games. He was one of the first people to volunteer to help pull the tarp on the field and the rest of his team ended up helping.

I'm glad I made the trade to get Jackson, but this waiting until the 4th to pick again is killing me!

Shit on a shingle. And there goes the other 2B prospect I was looking at.

In 2013, I had Lorenzen on my list as an OF and then during the offseason, I had him on my list as a potential closer. Then he started to turn heads in the scouting community and get a lot of pub.
In May 2014 on BP - What scouts are saying.
"Lorenzen immediately jumps to the top prospect in the Reds system for me. The stuff was unreal, and I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone improve so much in one offseason. His 50 command will be his weakness, but he has really improved since last year. Elite athlete, too."
Then BP's Jason Parks set things in perspective June 2014:
Fast-forward a few months and Lorenzen’s developmental progress is slowly winning hearts and minds, and several sources see not only a future starter but one with impact potential. I think the major-league outcome is still very abstract, as the delivery has some red flags that could limit effectiveness in longer outings; stays tall and stiff, with a deep ball pickup and rigid arm action. The command is below-average at present, and even though he can comfortably pump his fastball in the 93-95 range, he struggles with control when he overthrows in the elite velocity range. The slider could be a money pitch with big velocity and some tilt, the changeup has improved dramatically from what I saw this spring, and he’s even mixing in an occasional curveball to keep hitters off his high-intensity offerings
Then, what really caught my eye was a BP 2013 RE-DRAFT where he was selected at 1.20. Now, he will be in my system along with newly acquired, fellow Reds SP prospect, Robert Stephenson.
If he had been taken, Kopech was my target. As it turned out, Kopech went before him.

I took Graves because I think he has a lot of potential. He didn't have a good W-L record at Missouri but a lot of that was a product of being on some pretty bad teams. He touches 97 with his fastball and he has a good 2-seamer that gets a lot of ground balls. He went to my HS Alma Mater and I got to see him play A LOT in his HS days. He's a very good overall athlete. In high school, he was the #1 pitcher, lead-off hitter and starting SS.

Real nice pick with Taylor Jeff. I had no 3rd round pick, but I had him as a potential target at 4.5. Didn't expect him to be gone now, but I had hopes he would slip a round or so.

Thanks, Mark. With his tools and athleticism, I was actually surprised he didn't go earlier. My only rationale was that people were conflating him and the Michael Taylor from Stanford who has been around forever.
He still strikes out a lot, but he's been destroying AA since the beginning of May.

Taylor was on my short list for the last pick I made. The K's are what kept me from taking him. I was holding off until the 3rd rd pick to look at him again. Nice pick.

Forbes had been in the mix for my 2.23 pick. I let the ghosts of Mississippi high school prospects past scare me off of him but it is big potential.

Wasn't going to take my laptop on vacation, as I didn't think my next pick would ever come up. Good thing I did, because people have drafted fast enough that it was up only 2 days later.

I was looking to add a young piece to the left side of my infield and I think Forbes fits the bill. Hopefully he pans out.

Damn, Lorenzen/Thorpe/Rua are all gone, those where 3 of my top guys I wanted to slip. Great picks, love the speed. However I still have a way to go before my first pick. Hope my list never shrinks this much again in such a short period.

At first, I thought Brian the Rockies' GM posted this. Then I realized the last sentence said "list" and not "penis."

I had a list of five players, after Gatewood was taken. I was hoping for four of them. Only one is left, so I hope he falls to me. The suspense is killing me.
On top of the one player left, I had hoped to get one of the Wall/Happ duo, and then one of the Montas/Severino duo. Didn't think all four would go in the second round.
Starting to work on some backup plans now since I pick again at 3.03. I have someone in mind, but have to make sure he's who I want.
Hurry up, Jeff!

Thanks. Thats why I moved up to get him. Wasn't sure he would make it to my 4th rd pick. I missed Lively by 2 picks in Rd 1. Thankfully Conforto was still there who I liked a lot. So this time I made sure I got the player left I wanted. Not going to lie though once it became my pick i started debating on a couple pitchers I really liked also. Stewart won the debate lol

Screw it. If you had told me coming into this draft that I would take a collegiate freshman I would have laughed you off, but Thompson has really impressed me, and with the rest of the league sniping away my more preferred targets, I figured I should get Thompson become it's too late.
I have no idea what direction I'm going to go with my next picks. I thought I was going to only draft bats after landing Kolek/Holmes/Matuella, but I can't bring myself to do anything other than best player available with the way my team is currently constructed.

Took me 3 picks, but I finally took a pitcher! I am excited to have Walker Buehler and I thought about taking him in round 2. I am glad I took Margot first, and waited on Buehler.
Overall, I am very happy and excited about this years draft class. I took a high school player who has a middle of the order type bat, a young OF who is performing at an advanced level for his age who should be at minimum a speedy (both on D and on the bases) CF but he could develop more power and turn into a 5 tool star, and a college SP who has 4 pitches, produced at a high level program, and still has some projectabilty left.
This class filled some needs in my system, covered multiple levels of player development, and has star power in it. Couldn't ask for too much more.
