Yeah, I like that Lamb pick a lot. I like the guys that may not get huge prospect ranking love, but rake every stop along the way to the Show.

I went with Chavis, would love to see him stick at SS, but will be just as happy if he makes it at 2B. Chavis/Lamb/Holmes/and 2 others were who I had it narrowed down to for this pick. Holmes is a local kid that everyone around here loves and is rooting for.

Thanks Tim. I wanted to take Lamb in the winter draft but I wanted to see how he healed up from the broken hamate bone. I was a little surprised to see him there when I picked, especially after Sickels did a write up on him the other day. I'm very happy with the pick. I was a little upset that Sickles had that write up on him, because I didn't want him to pop up on anyone's radar that forgot about him or wasn't watching him. Obviously, he was on yours before that so it ended up not mattering. Lol

Evan Anundsen has been waived to make room on the roster for this pick. I bet it was hard to decide who to waive. Be glad you held onto Chuck Tiffany though. I would've snagged him up. It's only been six years since he played professionally... I think he can still come back. And with Matt Bush due to be released from prison in just under two years, he'll only be 30 years old. Maybe he's a late bloomer.

With the way MLB Draftees were flying off the board for awhile there, I didn't think Finnegan was going to make it to me. He's a guy I was targeting since the Winter, and almost drafted then. Love his fiesty mentality, two plus pitches, and an average change up that is rapidly improving. With his size, I know some worry about him becoming a reliever, but from what I've read he is going to have every opportunity to start. Lead the nation in K/9 this season, and I think he can develop into a nice #2 starter.

Anyone talk to Houston or Arizona? Are they able to access the boards with the main page being down?

I'm here. Deciding between a couple guys. Also weighing an offer for the pick. And I'm on the road until very late tonight. I'll either pick or trade by early tomorrow morning.

Smart pick on Kirby out of that later first round slot Ian.

I'm glad I took him then. I was tossing around another name, and honestly, until late last night I was planning on taking the other guy. I figured I had a shot at Kirby getting to my 2nd round pick.
On another note, has anyone heard from Houston?

Kirby wouldn't have made it past me. He was going to be my pick and was the reason I traded up for a second first rounder. Or Gatewood if he was still here, but he isn't.
And on that note, if someone would like to trade up for this pick, it is available now. I still have a couple players I like, but none that pop out like Kirby did. I traded 2.17 and 3.17 for this pick, so it would have to beat that so I'm not taking a loss. Or I would do it for a corner outfielder or starting pitching prospect worthy of this pick. If you want to wait and see who Houston takes first before making the trade, I understand.
With the new baby here, my response time may lag a bit. Also, I don't just want to jump on the first offer when a better one may come. We have all day to make a deal.

I couldn't bring myself to draft a 2015 draftee in the top 10, but he was at the top of my board then.
The four players I wanted at 9 were Touki Toussaint, Grant Holmes, Nathan Kirby, and Michael Matuella.

The four players I wanted at 9 were Touki Toussaint, Grant Holmes, Nathan Kirby, and Michael Matuella. I almost took Kirby with pick 17, but I thought Kirby stood a slightly better chance of being there at 23 than Finnegan since you and Conner had no picks between 18 and 22. Maybe I was wrong and Finnegan stood a better chance (who knows if any of these picks would've been him)... no use crying over spilled milk.

Jon is on his way back home from a funeral, which is why he missed his last pick. I have a contingency player for him that he emailed me, but I think he wants to try to look around a little bit when he gets home. If his time expires, I will select the contingency player for him before making my selection. Sorry this has slowed the draft down some, but as we always say, sometimes real life takes precedence.

Joe, could you remind us all again what the protocol is for the missed pick?

During the Winter, it's moved to the back of the draft and the owner is given another shot. If they miss it again, we pretty much assume the team is abandoned and we auto-pick for the team.
During the Summer though, the pick is just loss. No moving to the back of the round/draft or anything. It's tough in a situation like this, we can all understand missing a pick in this situation. But we created the rule this way so there was no room for interpretation or manipulation. A committee member (Rich) missed a pick last year and lost it, and Shawn (NYY) missed one two years before that. We don't want to put qualifiers on "acceptably missing picks" and there is no way in Hell I'd ever ask a GM here to prove someone passed away. The committee did discuss such things, and we think it's a bad can of worms to open up.

I'll post this here as well as the trade block thread.
If you're interested in obtaining this pick, please drop me an email. Looking for two picks this year. Late 2nd and a 4th preferably. I might do early 3rd and a 4th. The player I want most just isn't worth going here, so I want to maximize what I have.

There's a lot of love going around for these 1st round picks. Maybe because the pick just makes so much sense (not a reach and not a surprise fall), the Casey Gillaspie pick just kind of went unnoticed (definitely, uncommented). Switchy power hitters don't just grow on trees, and Gillaspie has a lot going for him. Since everyone else is so enamored with these picks, I just wanted to say that I think the Dodgers got a steal with Gillaspie.
I also like Touki, but that has nothing to do with baseball and everything to do with his parents being AWESOME!

Well poop. I was hoping Reid-Foley would make it to pick 2.10. It was him or Binford for pick 2.01. Love Reid-Foley, nice pick.

an observation: Teams don't seem afraid of the HS pitchers this year - though it is a deep draft. And everyone is drafting their favorite players, rather than strictly following the IRL draft order or BA list. Seems several owners have REALLY been studying this draft.
And i HATE the way this round is starting.

Dang it. I was hoping Montas would fall more and I could get him later. He was one of the reasons I traded my first rounder to get two later picks. Really thought he wasn't too high on many radars yet.
Also, screw St. Louis for taking Gatewood. He was my planned first round pick. One of the best picks in the first round I think. The kid is going to hit no matter what position he ends up at.

Sorry dudes. As competitive as the draft is, I actually hate taking another guy's #1, because it's so frustrating when it happens to me. Good luck making backup picks in his stead!

Nice pick Ken. I really thought Pompey was far enough under the radar to make it to 2.23. Back to the drawing board I guess.

And there goes the next two guys off the top of my board. SD takes both of them. Was hoping to snag both w/ my next two picks.

The Barreto pick was a greatt pick Mike! Kids got monster upside.
With my first pick not being until 3.25 its very difficult for me to gage who will fall that far down. My first pick couldnt come any sooner....
