Sorry guys, had a very long therapy session on my back. We always just called it picking up a hooker, but I guess when your wife is on the same thread you have to use code.

Nice pick on Marte.
The Diamondbacks likely will.not make a pick until next week. My official day is Thursday. I should have the pick in on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Apologies for the delay.
(Except for Jim. No apologies for Jim...)

Ian's Committee debut is as soff as expected. The workload is already getting to him.
Raise your game, Ian. Raise your game.

Thanks, Ian.
I actually had it narrowed down to three people. I was all set to pick Jesse Hahn until I found out he was already taken. I searched the roster spreadsheet too, but he didn't pull up. Marte was my second choice, but since I am a Mariner fan I figured I had him rated a shade higher than most. But I got an email from another GM calling me names for taking Marte too.
I love when that happens!

Really like the Tucker pick. He was the other player I was debating over at my pick of Underwood.

I was keeping an eye on Tucker as well. He was on my list of SSs. I think he has an excellent chance to stick at SS and his bat should be able to make him an every day starter.

I really like all the recent SS picks. All were under consideration for me. I really like Kivlehan too, I almost took him instead. I really like his background coming from D1 college football and how he's transitioned into a legit baseball prospect.

I was wondering if and when Mella might go in this draft, if at all. On one hand, he's got the best arm of any pitcher taken in this draft. On the other hand, the injury concerns have nothing to do with an elbow or future TJ surgery, rather, rotator cuff issues. This was what pushed me off him. Should be a fun player to watch though. The pick could result in pure gold or totally derail. That, by pure definition, is the kind of risk / reward you would hope for late in a draft. I kind of like this pick in that slot for the Rox. If his shoulder had stayed clean through the spring, I had him targeted for pick 1.10 of the summer draft. If he had stayed healthy though, he wouldn't have made it past 1.5

If I didn't have such a dearth of hitting prospects and glut of pitching prospects, Mella would have likely been the pick at #20 for me. Great pick Brian!

Thanks guys. Like Mark said, I felt comfortable rolling the dice on him at this point in the draft.

Nice pick, Patrick.
Patrick and I like to pick the same types of guys. Sexy guys that do sexy things on the diamond.

Finally, Kivlehan goes off the board. I really like how he has turned athleticism into baseball skills. I think it's an interesting floor pick with a bunch of upside. If he was a year or 2 younger with those stats, I think he would have been a snap-pick in the top 10. I like the pick a lot. As a Mariners fan, I hope he turns out to be awesome.

Mella was real high on my board, I pencilled in Mella as my guy months before the draft. Then Adames fell to me and I couldnt pass him up...This has been a very deep draft, I had reynaldo lopez, marcos molina, brett phillips, gleyber torres, ketel marte, duane underwood, jack flaherty, and cole tucker high on my list. Great picks on those, but all the picks have been really solid so far, keep up the good work gang.

I would of taken kivlehan if I thought he'd stick at 3b but he seems more like a 1b. He still should be a good 1b but didn't fill a need for me.

soo thats why you drafted Obrien, for his sexxxy (with 3 x's) -16 defensive rating? that is some rough sex all over the dirt of the diamond.... Matt, I'm about to drop some knowledge on you, so buckle up. O'Brien has a plus arm, so he's going to find a spot in the field somewhere, whether it's behind the plate, the hot corner, 1B, or LF. The DBacks don't have crap for catching options at the MLB level, so O'Brien not only has a chance to stick there, but could be getting MLB at bats with them by June. Now as for the defensive rating, Dan knew that after projecting him to 26 HR, if he didn't do something to somehow hinder his awesomeness, O'Brien would just completely wreck the ZiPS system as we know it. Rest assured, that -16 is a 1-year deal, and as a backup catcher for me, I just need him to get laid and hit tons of HR off the bench. To hell with defense! JIm

His value in ZiPS will be much more valuable that real life. If he can catch a few games to keep the catcher rating he would be a great player for years to come. As long as pass balls don't kill you, he could be quite valuable. It's crazy how different how our teams turn out though. You're pitching heavy with the "ROTATION OF JUSTICE" and based my team off of hitting with the "WAR Machines"!

Now I'm just missing the "awesome" signature! Does "The NSBL Seattle Mariners: Relevant for the first time since 2005" qualify as 'awesome'?

Was hoping Mateo would somehow slip to me in the summer. When he was just written about on Fangraphs, I knew that wouldn't happen... I had it narrowed to two choices, but it was a floor guy I could use this year or Mateo. I decided I could always find a defensive CF that could fill the same role as my floor guy, but I did need more hitting propects. I felt Mateo was the best player available at a premium position, but there was one other guy I was considering. And he was picked by Oakland two picks later. I was really hoping Bradley would somehow fall in the Summer Draft and I could grab him then. I like big, athletic players, even if they're stuck at 1B. Winning the triple crown in rookie league really bumped up his prospect value. I just figured that with Bradley, all the pressure is on his bat. With Mateo, he could make the majors based on his bat or his glove. Plus 80 rated speed is nice.

Colorado and Oakland- Love those picks! Both guys I thought would've been taken by now, but I was hoping they'd stick around till this summer.
