Like the Taylor pick. He was third on my remaining target list...

Round 2 Favorite Pick: Pick 2.08 - Marco Gonzales - Detroit Tigers I've been crushing on Gonzales since the Winter Draft (the pitcher I alluded to almost drafting back then was Gonzales). I love his command and I think his raw stuff is better than people give him credit for. Just because he fits the "command lefty" profile, doesn't mean he only has middling stuff; the changeup is a real plus pitch.
Honorable Mentions: Rob Kaminsky (2.07 - Chicago), Tyrone Taylor (2.29 - Toronto) Kaminsky is somewhat comparable to Gonzales; in that he's a 6'0 lefty drafted by St. Louis, but his raw stuff is much better. He was one of my favorite HS arms in this class (only Kohl Stewart was clearly ahead of him in my book). Taylor is great value at the end of the round, not sure if he would have been my pick at 3.11, but he was definitely one of my top targets still remaining.
Round 2 Least Favorite Pick: Pick 2.21 - Kyle Schwarber - Cleveland Indians I don't get this pick from Cleveland's perspective. Schwarber is a good offensive player, who is good enough defensively to handle catching at the collegiate ranks, but I highly doubt he'll be able to stick behind the dish in pro ball, and I doubt he's athletic enough to handle anything other than 1B. I guess he could surprise me next year and become a top half of the first round guy, but right now he's more of a fringe first rounder who may be severely limited to a 1B/DH role defensively.
Honorable Mentions: Max Muncy (2.10 - Minnesota), Joe Terdoslavich (2.22 - Seattle) See a trend here? I don't like guys who are glued to playing 1B at the professional level.

Hey guys,
I am on vacation in California. Usually I let someone know when I am gone, but I figured with better technology.... all I have is my cell. While we were going up the mountain I posted some pending trades and waivers then I lost the signal. I didn't have any service until this morning again. My fault, I should have had a plan set up in case something happened.

I had three guys targeted for pick 3.3: Taylor, Johnson, and one other guy. Let's hope the other guy gets past Colorado...

Man, I was hoping Johnson would make it to 3.12. I like the pick BOS!

My targets for pick 3.3 were, in order, Johnson, Taylor, Workman. Taylor has the highest ceiling of the bunch, which is the only reason why I had him listed ahead of Workman. My theme for this draft is pitching, pitching, and more pitching. But if Johnson were gone and Taylor was there, I don't know how I could have passed on him. That said, I got "stuck" with Workman. May have reached a bit since his future is likely in the bullpen, but he obviously has a great arm. Red Sox could give him a couple starts this season to see what he has. If not, I've read where he may get a shot to earn a rotation spot out of spring training next year. While I hope that he sticks in the rotation to increase his value, I won't be upset if he gets sent to the pen. Other than Uehara, I haven't had a back-end of the bullpen guy who can come in and get a strikeout to get out of a jam. With Workman, Barrett, and possibly Wahl, I now have three guys who could potentially become that for me. And hey, last time I drafted a guy out of the Red Sox system who was projected to end up in the back end of the bullpen but was given a chance to start first is doing fairly well for me. Thank you, Felix Doubront, for giving me a little more confidence in this pick

Brian totally rocked his last 3 picks and I am feeling vastly inferior in my division. This was supposed to be the draft where I closed the gap. I can only hope the youth is too far away. COL: Rosell Herrera - a reach in Rd1, but a top notch guy. Miguel Almonte - BA man-crush of the winter. Mookie Betts - who came out of nowhere Mauricio Cabrerra - elite Braves arm.

Hey, if you're going to draft a reliever, why not draft one that is young and dominant?
Like the Paco Rodriguez pick; like that AZ's GM took ownership of it.

LOVE the Paco pick. He wouldn't have made it past 3.12. He was my top target.

I was watching highlights the other night and thinking I didn't remember Paco Rodriguez getting drafted but then decided I must be mistaken.
I don't think drafting a productive major leaguer in the 3rd round is anything too** apologize for.
** I have decided that for the rest of the draft I will purposely use the wrong from of to, too and two just two give Joe something too highlight.

I really like the Renato Nunez pick. He was one of three 3B I was looking at for my last pick. I just worry about that low BB-rate. If it were up over 8% instead of at 5%, with a 5:1 K:BB ratio I might have popped on him instead of Bregman.
The more I read about Ynoa, the more I like him.
In the third round, the only two guys I had heard of that have been taken are Workman and Johnson. I either don't have enough time to research as much as I'd like, or I'm researching in some of the wrong areas... not sure which yet lol. And the only times I have actually watched baseball this season has been when I was out at a restaurant and it's been on the tv in the background. So glad that when the girlfriend moves in, she is going to make me get cable lol.

Not sure if that is a ringing endorsement for Workman or not Hey, you can always be like me. I don't have cable, but make sure to get the MLB.TV package every year. You can even throw in a few extra dollars for the MILB.TV package and get a lot of minor league games. Like the Paco pick. When I was competing, I spent most of my draft picks on players that could fill in some holes and help immediately. Doubront, Descalso, Ramirez, and a few others were drafted this way. Nothing wrong with that strategy!

So I've known the name for a few years. As for MLB or MiLB online, I work the swing shift when most games are played. It would be quite a waste for me to get them when I work 4-5 evenings a week.

LOL I wish I had a job I could do that (okay, I really don't. I love my job). Some days may be quiet, but other days I may have three people arrested and place another on escape.
Plus, I barely got a phone worth trying to watch videos on this past weekend.

Went a bit off my board with the Phegley pick. I love the offensive numbers he's put up this year and the 46% CS rate is pretty special as well. He's got a lower upside than the other guys I considered for the pick, but he's easily got the highest floor, and at a position of need to boot. At the very least, he should be a very solid platoon catcher and late inning defensive replacement.
I still have 2 targets before a tier break. I would love to move up from 4.06, 4.24, or 4.26 to try and secure one of them. In addition to a pick, I am looking to move a combination of Brett Wallace, Jose Vinicio, Tim Alderson, Ramon Castro, Hisanori Takahashi, and 2014 cash in order to move up, so if you have a bunch of targets and don't mind moving down to get some additional assets, shoot me an e-mail and we can work something out.

Man Connor, not sure about that pick.
Now I'm ALLLLLL about drafting 25-year old MLB-ready players. All about it. But looks like a pretty big chance drafting a guy that, prior to this year, posted sub-.700 OPS seasons for 2 years straight.

As much as I hate Bud Selig's new draft guidelines, Demeritte probably exemplifies a guy that, prior to those guidelines, would've never been drafted until winter.
But because guys sign a lot earlier now, Tracy got to see his production with a handful of games under his belt, and made a sharp pick.

I figured he had no chance at making it to pick 4.16.
Love the production so far and the story I read on him. We'll see what position he ends up at.
