Here is where you can discuss my six first round picks. And other stuff too, I guess.
Let me all know who is in the MLB Draft but is already on a roster so I can list them here.
- Kumar Rocker - Spencer Jones - Hunter Barco

No 1st rd picks for TOR this year. This may be the first time that has happened (or 2nd at most). I didn't even realize it was time for the real-life draft.

Joe's going to trade down from 1.1. Needs more picks.

We're starting now? Even though we're quite early in the sim season? Not that it matters a ton to me, just curious

It's always started the day after the MLB draft starts.

I approve of both picks. This draft is going to be so much fun.

Love the Termarr pick. Jones and Termarr were 1a and 1b in my book. I never even seriously considered anyone else for 1.01. I made a few inquiries to package a couple later 1sts to move up to 1.02 or 1.03 and it was to get both Termarr and Jones.

Travis is really Zimming up this draft. I thought we were just taking turns playing Zimm every year. It's not Travis' turn?

Everything I read had Jones as the consensus top hitter in this draft. I got him. Before his injury, Lesko was the consensus top pitcher in this draft. I got him now too. Those were my absolute top targets in this draft.
I like the Porter pick. He was on my short list if things went awry in these last few picks, and would have still been in the running for 1.18 for me. I didn't think Cross would drop to 1.18, but he was on my list as well.
I had Jung on my list, but farther down due to my surplus of infielders. Stillba good pick for John though.

In a move that shocks absolutely no one, the villain Hayes has drafted the sneakiest player in the draft, one Zach Neto.
Coincidentally, probably my favorite 1st round pick in MLB and NSBL. On the bright side, even if I had kept my pick, I wouldn't have gotten either of the guys I wanted at 14. LOL

Hayes can't turn away from a shortstop. He's drawn to them like a moth to a flame. I like the pick though. He was definitely near the top of my list for 1.18.

It was Porter or Lesko for me at 10, I had a slight preference to Porter due to Lesko's injury and wanting someone who will get a bit of a head start moving up the ladder assuming he signs with Texas.

I'm glad you did. I had Porter on my list, but I had him several spots lower than Lesko. My top three players were Jones-Termarr-Lesko.

That is how you draft Joe Clark! Tiedemann was number one on my board and was hoping no one noticed.

That is how you draft Joe Clark! Tiedemann was number one on my board and was hoping no one noticed. I was stoked to get him. He might be the pitcher with the most helium this season and BA already has him in their Top 35. I'd rather get the guy already killing High A at 19 and probably in AA next season than any of the pitchers in the major league draft right now.

Damnit. I had no idea Tiedemann was available. Had I know he would have been gone (similar to Huascar Ynoa last year). I'm not as thorough in draft research as I once was, and it shows.
Nice pick

Nice pick Thank you. Being familiar with how most people draft by now, you were the one I was most worried about taking him. I have a decent sense of who is more likely to take from the MLB Draft and who will take from the minors and who mixes it up. You mix it up. Most everyone else in front of 1.18 was going to take from the draft and I knew it. Actually, the Ian Lewis pick was the only surprise so far. I didn't expect Dan to hit the minors. I 100% had Lewis on my list though, and near the top of my guys in the minors until his unspectacular 2022 (thus far). It's still a good pick though because when you compare him to the MLB draftees, he probably comes out above nearly all that are left.

Left me scrambling a bit. I was debating 2 players from 2022 MLB Draft and 3 players from the minors, which included Tiedemann, just because it's so hard to get SPs in this league. My shortcoming here is I don't follow this stuff as well as the rest of you and wasn't aware of how hyped Tiedemann has been this season. The lists I'm working off are from preseason. Almost took Tiedemann but would have been me falling into the right pick rather than some amazing insight.

I like Lewis. Of all the hitters I put on my list this preseason, I had him at the top, and even though each and every one has underperformed to an extent, he's done it the least. He hasn't so much underperformed as just been mediocre. I still had him as one of my Top minor league hitters though because I think he has the ceiling of a Jazz Chisholm type player.

Chase DeLauter was the top hitter on my board. I was hoping Nate would go away from the real draft so Chase wouldn't be auto-drafted. No such luck. He still would have to have gotten by Deron though.
I had Crawford right behind him. Good pick by Nate.

Was torn between Rafaela and a pitcher with thay last first rounder. Pitcher has a higher ceiling but much lower floor. Rafaela I think can be a utility player at least, since he's already excelling in AA (if you skip looking at the BB rate at least), with a chance to be more. Decided to go with more of a sure thing here.

That's 5 2B in the first round. Maybe more. Interesting new wrinkle.

I really like that Flores pick!
For starters, I want to know what scenario caused the Flores parents to name both brothers “Wilmer.” I’ve only heard of George Foreman pulling that off before.
Secondly, stellar BB:9 to prop up that K:9. Tons of SP prospects have promising K:9, but with wildness to match.
You’ve got yourself a solid Wilmer there, John.

I like the Arroyo pick. He was in consideration for me when I took Graham. Ultimately it came down to me fully not believing in the Mariners ability to develop hitters (I don't credit them for Julio. His talent couldn't be denied) and being burned by Cal League stats before. But this is a good spot for him to go. Maybe even a few spots too late.

I fully expected him gone by the end of the 1st, so I had to jump when I had the chance.
