The NSBL will use the same playoff format as MLB. Currently, that format is as follows:
Three division winners per league, plus two Wild Card teams.
Round One (Wild Card Round)
Wild Card teams play each other in a one-game playoff with home field advantage being given to the higher seeded team. Winner of that game will continue on in the playoffs.
Round Two (Divisional Round)
The Wild Card winner will then play the top seeded division winner (even if they are from the same division) with the division winner having home field advantage. The other two division winners will face each other with the higher seed having home field advantage. This will be a five-game series, with a 2-2-1 format. Both series in both leagues are played simultaneously.
Round Three (League Championship)
The two divisional round winners will then meet, with the higher seeded team having home field advantage. This will be a seven game series with a 2-3-2 format.
World Series
The two league winners will meet for a final seven game series, with the team with the best record having home field advantage. This will also be a seven-game series with a 2-3-2 format.
NSBL will use all the same tie-breakers and home field determinations as MLB.
All series in both leagues will play games on the same day to prevent unfair advantages. All Game 1s will be on the same day, etc. Anytime a series changes venues, there will be a "travel day" allowing teams' players to rest. There will also be a scheduled day off between series. If all series finish early, then there will just be one day off before the next series starts.
No series will start until all of the prior round's series are complete.
Playoff games will be simmed two games at a time, lineup changes will be allowed between simulations, but no roster changes will be allowed mid-series. Lineups changes will not be allowed until the completion of a series, before the next one starts.
Only players who were on a team's roster prior to the Week 23 sim of that season will be playoff eligible.
Teams may not make roster-changes mid-series. They may make all the line-up and rotational changes they desire, but they must use the same 26 players for an entire round, then, if they advance, they may make roster changes to cover for injuries, etc.
