1st year player minimum is set at 700k. This will increase if the committee feels it is necessary. Veteran minimum will be set at twice the rookie minimum.
Players entering their 2nd and 3rd years of service will receive automatic increases according to a set scale of performance increases (minimum increase of 15%). Players entering the 4th – 6th years of service will receive automatic increases according to a set scale of performance increases (minimum increase of 30%).
After a player exceeds his 6th year of service he is considered a veteran and is eligible for free agency.
Contract Extensions (CE status) will be available for players with 5th or 6th year status. The committee will then formulate an offer which the GM has the right accept or reject; there will be no negotiating the CE offer. If accepted, the CE offers will expire 1 year after the players 6th year.
In free agency we have set minimum bids for players.
1 year: $1.400 (double salary of xxx players)
2 years: 1.900
3 years: 2.200
4 years: 2.500
5 years: 2.800
6 years: 3.100
7 years: 3.400
Each team may also sign up to three players each season to Minor League Invites (MLI). An MLI player has a salary of $1.400MM, but it is not guaranteed unless the player is promoted to the active roster or traded. Otherwise, the salary does not count against the salary cap while the player is on the reserve roster. All MLI contracts are for one season with no option. All MLI players must meet the same eligibility requirements as all over free agents.
Contracts can only be voided if a player dies while having active status with a MLB team (Nick Adenhart or Tyler Skaggs for example). Players retiring or leaving the game due to injury do not grant the team any relief. All other scenarios will be handled on an “as needed” basis.
Teams may offer a one-year option to players during free agency. The option amount will be the same as the other years of the contract, it will not be for more or less money. Any team that declines to pick up a player's option must pay a 10% buy-out fee to that player. Due to this slight increase of guaranteed money, two contracts of equal years and money, with the only difference being an option, will slightly favor the team offering an option.
