DAVID ORTIZ - DH - Toronto Blue Jays - Class of 2020One of the ultimate sluggers in league history, David "Big Papi" Ortiz enters the Hall of Fame after a 12 year career in which he never hit fewer than 20 HR in a season. He played for 7 clubs (OAK/BOS/CLE/DET/BAL/CHW/TOR), all in the American League, non-coincidentally as he allowed his bat to do his heavy lifting from the DH position. He was a winner of the World Series in both his first two seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays, and later won a third World Series ring in 2011 with the Baltimore Orioles. He was named an All-Star three times and won two Silver Slugger awards. Despite never winning the award, he was a top-10 finisher in the Hank Aaron award five times, and for the Most Valuable Player award four times. Twice he hit over 50 HR in a season, crested the 40 mark three other times, and broke 100 RBI seven times. His best season was his third season in the league, as a 32 year old in 2008. He hit .309/.426/.642 for Toronto, with 54 HR, 133 R, 127 RBI, and 118 BB, good for a 177/182 OPS+/wRC+. Upon his retirement, he sat atop the NSBL career leaderboards in HR (436) and BB (974). He finishes with a .259/.352/.503 line, with 1113 R, 1202 RBI, and a 130/132 OPS+/wRC+.
