Franco was a good selection. I had him pretty high on my board, I just didn't pull the trigger since I have Arenado ready to take over 3B already.

Love the Franco pick. He was #1 on my list projecting who I thought might be available at 1.29.

I love the Nick Kingham pick Mike. If you need him to sign, I can send you his autograph that I got from him some years ago in the NYPL. He's as great a person as he is a player. He throws strikes and he makes adjustments as good or better than any pitcher in the organization. I expect him to have a nice MLB career.

No need, I already have him signed to an underslot deal. I'm going to use the savings to sign the top IFA this year...

I actually questioned my Franco pick when I made it, but now I feel so much better about it now that otherswanted him too. Same with Cesar Puello!! I'm not sure about him, but he's doing well in AA and you never know.
This year has been tuff for tha Marniers, so maybe the future will be a little better with the addition of Frano and Puello.

Puello was my pick. I had/have a backup option, I just want to re-evaluate and make sure it's who I want.

Puello was my top position player after Franco was selected, but the Biogenesis thing scared me off a little bit. Is he breaking out because he was juicing, is he going to get suspended 50 games?
That is a good job though, getting both Franco and Puello.

isn't picking up a Met prospect like jumping out of a 3 story building? Matt Harvey excepted.

Well, you all can blame Patrick for no sim tonight. I had my heart set on Puello, so when he got taken, I was heartbroken... I had a backup plan, but I decided to do a little more research and found that my backup plan had already been drafted and I missed it. That's what happens when you add names to your list during the off-season without verifying they're still available. Then you spend months thinking they are when they aren't.... so anyways... I spent the evening researching.
I'm not incredibly happy having to pick someone other than who I wanted. I would've preferred a middle infielder here, since I am short on them, but I don't want to draft for need and I couldn't find anything that really stood out to me (there are a couple highly ranked ones, but I don't like glove-first hitters). With Arenado, Freeman, Gallo, and Jagielo now, I think I should have my corner infield spots covered.
I should have the sim up tomorrow night. I have to go work on my truck in the morning/afternoon because I am driving out of town Monday morning, but it shouldn't stop me from simming. So if you missed getting an MP in, you have until probably late afternoon on Saturday to get it in.

That is a good job though, getting both Franco and Puello. I read a scouting report of Puello about 2 years ago and talked of a sweet swing and predicted future power. But because he was a Met, I wanted to hold off until I saw some proof of it. So in my mind, I have credited the better numbers to the predictions rather than the HGH. But it is a possibility.

Was planning on waiting to make the pick since I had three guys I liked here. Did not want to make everyone wait while I was out though today or was talking trading the pick. I like Payano. Walks are still high but are coming down and k's have spiked to over 10 per 9 ip. He is a tall lanky guy who I'm confident will continue ro bring down the bb numbers.

Is there anyone on that Hickory team that isn't a crazy tools'd up prospect?

Hickory is most definitely loaded. Myrtle Beach is looking good too. That is where Payano is, got to see them play this week.

Yes he is. Just quickly looked at milb.com and they still have last year's picture. That's what I get for not reading the small print.

Herrera was one of the three I was considering at 1.29. Nice pick.

Thanks, Tracy. Payano was part of my decision making process as well. In fact, you picking Payano made my decision a much easier one.

Weird only 8 players where drafted that are currently in a major league org. in the entire 1st round. I guess that is the affect of adding a 4th round and a summer draft a few years back.

Went back and forth between 2 guys. We'll see if the other makes it to the end of the round. I'm doubtful. Anyway, CJ Edwards has been dominate in low A. I'm hoping they move him up soon.

Round 1 Favorite Pick: Pick 1.16 - Hunter Renfroe - Cincinnati RedsI love Renfroe, and while he is definitely a riskier college player, he also has one of the more impressive upsides out of a college bat. Although he will be a corner outfielder, his speed and arm should make him a defensive force in RF, and if he gains more consistency at the plate, I think he could emerge as the most valuable collegiate bat this year. Honorable Mentions: Tyler Glasnow (1.13 - Oakland), J.P. Crawford (1.26 - Detroit) Round 1 Least Favorite Pick: Pick 1.08 - Hunter Dozier - Detroit TigersIt just sucks that Dozier ended up being auto-picked this year, since he likely wasn't a candidate to be drafted until the 4th round talent wise, but I guess that's what Detroit gets for being ownerless Getting J.P. Crawford late in the round helps lessen the blow, as that was another favorite pick. Honorable Mentions: Eric Jagielo (1.28 - Chicago), Thomas Eshelman (1.25 - Kansas City)

Thanks, I was really glad he was there. I like all his tools and his summer league success followed by this past season made me feel comfortable with taking him. Was looking hard at Edwards. He was one of the 3 guys I wanted at 5.

CJ Edwards was one of the guys I was looking at with my last first round pick. He is putting together a great season. If he was 20lbs heavier, I might have taken him. But being listed at only 150-155lbs makes me worry about being a max-effort guy and maybe ending up in the bullpen.

Honorable Mentions: Eric Jagielo (1.28 - Chicago), Thomas Eshelman (1.25 - Kansas City) As I said at the time, I wasn't too enthused with the pick either. I think he'll turn into a good hitter, but I worry about a possible move to 1B. I'd rather him move to a COF spot than to 1B. I'd still much rather have Puello (as of right now). I am with you on the Eshelman pick though, that was my least favorite of the round. I know he put together a crazy good freshman year, but the scouting reports still aren't glowing enough to use a 1st round pick on him. There was no threat of him not being around in the 4th round or even next summer in the 3rd round. He isn't on the same level as Carlos Rondon who you grabbed last year when he was a freshman. I just think there are at least two dozen pitchers out there already, who if Eshelman puts up those numbers at the same level after he is drafted, you'd be enthused.... but they're doing it right now, and are probably two years younger than he will be when he does it (i.e. CJ Edwards who Toronto just drafted).

Love the Tepesch pick. I went upside instead of help next year but he was on short list for last and next pick of mine.

Wasn't sure about him And after no one picked him in the first round It made it scary to pick him up there. I just hope he picks it up and gets some run support. I hope my other two I have are there in round three and four.
