Even though I really wanted Wander, I knew there was no real chance of him falling to 5. I feel this was the right call. Good job committee.

Well that sucks. He was the only name I'd looked at so far. Guess I better start looking at names.

I had wander ranked #1 on my board but im happy with Robert. When the season started I had Robert as the clear cut #1

Really like the Brailyn Marquez pick. I was sure he had no chance to fall very far.

I hate everything. Rich eats doorknobs. You seemed exasperated and frustrated to take Spencer Howard at pick #8. I had him easily in the top 5 of this draft class. Maybe this is your lucky draft.

Like the Mauricio pick. He was one of the other 2 names I was considering with my pick.

This draft is going more or less how I thought it would. I am hoping some of my targets fall down to 27.

This draft is going more or less how I thought it would. I am hoping some of my targets fall down to 27. I feel that pain. I keep a running list all year round. When it gets to the winter draft, I essentially ignore any hope of any of the guys in to top 15 from having a chance to get to ME. Then I circle a list of 5-6 guys I thought I might be able to get. Then I remind myself that there's a pretty good chance I'll only have 1 or 2 names still available. Setting up for the disappointment seems to make it easier that way and sometimes you get pleasantly surprised your guy is still there.......................unless Ian is picking one slot in front of you, $%)+^#!!!!!

My board was: 1.Wander 2.Robert 3.Patino 4. Toss up between Mauricio and Nova
I gave the edge to Nova due to the Astros player development. The Mets always seem to jerk position prospects around but who knows with BVW at the helm now.

My frustration is that I needed pitching and Marquez was ahead of a lot of position players on my list. Howard was like 11th on my list. Also, I just prefer drafting LHP over RHP. I agree that Howard is a fine "consolation prize" since that's how I'm viewing it. I also agree that I'm probably just an idiot. When the 4 position players I wanted go in this draft, I'm just gonna question myself.

Wow, liked this quote from Kiley McDaniel: Chris: Who ends up being a better pitcher Luis Patino or Mackenzie Gore?
2:39 Kiley McDaniel: Still got Gore, but it’s a conversation now

Is Travis still around with the Tigers? It looks like he hasn't signed in since June.

In all seriousness, I had Carlson 1A, Roederer 1B and a still undrafted player 1C and I only wanted Carlson more because he will likely be quicker to the show. But, 3 weeks ago BA reported this note on Roederer, "Scouts on both the amateur and pro side saw hints of the same type of skill set that made Andrew Benintendi a star for the Red Sox." So, while I'm still ticked, I don't feel like I had to settle on Roederer. Good luck with Carlson. It will be fun to look back 5-6 years from now.

I had looked at Roederer, as well. I was dialed in to getting an outfielder, and those two (plus another undrafted guy) were the ones I was looking at. Granted, my research didn't go very deep.
This article is what sold me on Carlson. Obviously a lot of risk, but I feel the winter draft is the place to take risk. It'll be fun watching him to see how he handles AA pitching. If he can maintain that walk rate while beginning to tap into the supposed power he has, his value will skyrocket. If he doesn't, he could be more like Dominguez or Arcia from that list in that article.
