I don't know what to think about this. Frankly, I'm a bit scared and wonder if this is a precursor to analyzing every Adele lyric ever written? You wanna know what's funny? I actually did that for one of my grad classes last year. Clark-Adele-Dissertation.docx (78.87 KB)

Anyone who puts "New Girl" above "Chappelle's Show" needs a big karate chop to the dong.

New Girl is solid. I've never compared it to Chappelle's Show, which is also great, because most people don't take the time to do that.
But to each his own.

It was easy to figure out if you believe that there are two ways this was likely to happen. It would either have to be a team that highly values player versatility or a team that had little attention paid to them throughout the season, and would have to play players all over to account for injuries and short benches. Then I just checked out Team Fielding pages. The Braves were the third team I checked, after Milwaukee and Tampa. Next season I'm going to have someone play all 10 positions (counting DH) just for shits and giggles. I'm thinking Freddy Galvis could pull it off.

Anyone who puts "New Girl" above "Chappelle's Show" needs a big karate chop to the dong. Chappelle's Show got dinged for only have 2 seasons. It's what you value more, 2 MVP seasons, or 10 All-Star seasons. Also it got dinged because I haven't re-watched it in a long time, so it's not as fresh in my mind. I made the grades off of a 2 second gut feel, so there were a lot of biases at play (recency, current mood, etc.)

I think I can now do things like find historical stats for a player/team/whatever. It will be buggy as hell due to team abbreviation changes (i.e. Cle vs. CLV, Mia vs. Fla, etc.), but the #s will be close enough to correct. Once I figure out a good way to go about this I should be able to get historical stats for a team or player for any curious GMs. Or if anybody wants a copy of the data, I can give it to you as as SQL dump, csv file, or XML file (those are the 3 options offered in the program).

Thank you. I think there's some bugs in the batting file. The HR's only show for the 2011 season, not 2011-16. Still fun to look at though. Rich Harden is my all-time wins leader. He was on his way out when I took over.

I'm an idiot. My scraper didn't grab the 2016 registers so those historical files I uploaded for TEX and TOR only went up through 2015. I went back and updated the scraper, got the 2016 data, re-ran the queries for TEX and TOR, and re-uploaded the files in their posts. So Mark/Tracy, go re-download the new files. Those ones are up to date. Also, (I'm an idiot part 2!) I just realized there is a super easy way for me to get the historical player-by-player league stats (going back to 2006 at least, so 11 years). They're linked at the bottom of this post. But here are some fun freebies! *AB leader - Jose Reyes - 7280 (Next up: Robinson Cano - 6882, Miguel Cabrera - 6849) *HR leader - David Ortiz - 401 (Miguel Cabrera - 396, Ryan Howard - 387) *Hits leader - Miguel Cabrera - 2095 (Jose Reyes - 2027, Robinson Cano - 2003) *SB leader - Carl Crawford - 569 (Jose Reyes - 560, Jacoby Ellsbury - 514) *HBP leader - Chase Utley - 150 (Carlos Quentin - 142, Josh Willingham - 141) *K leader - Ryan Howard - 1942 (Curtis Granderson - 1831, Adam Dunn - 1708) *W leader - Cole Hamels - 147 (Mark Buehrle - 139, Cliff Lee - 138) *SV leader - Huston Street - 251 (Francisco Rodriguez - 244, Mariano Rivero - 223) *CG leader - Roy Halladay - 57 (Cliff Lee - 46, Felix Hernandez - 39) *IP leader - Cliff Lee - 2307 (Mark Buehrle - 2209, Felix Hernandez - 2171) *K leader - Cole Hamels - 2046 (Felix Hernandez - 2045, Jake Peavy - 1926) *HRA leader - Matt Cain - 280 (Josh Beckett - 244, Jake Peavy - 243) nsbl_hitters.csv (80.47 KB) nsbl_pitching.csv (91.66 KB)

I'd have to look, but I'm pretty sure I still had him. Guess I sat him that year? Before trading him for Felix.

I can just go through and check the actual zip file later. I was guessing that I didn't think I could compete that year and kept him down, but I finished tied for second. Maybe his projection wasn't good. He always simmed like ass for me anyways which is why I traded him.
