Finally, the most important award in the NSBL, the GM of the Year!
I received 14 votes in each league, with our tightest race in the NL, and a very separated top-4 in the AL.
In the American League, Matt Hopkins of the Chicago White Sox wins his first GM of the Year award, finishing a full 10 points in front of second place Connor Reed of the Tampa Bay Rays, who was closely followed by Ty Duncan of the Baltimore Orioles, and Tracy Kienast of the Toronto Blue Jays.
Hopkins led the White Sox to his first AL Central title with a 88-74 record with a +58 run differential, advancing to the 7th game of the ALCS before being knocked out by Toronto.
(Hope you see what I left you Scott haha, that's what you get for adding yourself at the end of your ballot!)
In the National League, a neck-and-neck race resulted in our only tie of the awards year, so the award will be shared by Jeff (Hayes) Kern of the New York Mets and Brian Emark of the Colorado Rockies who received the same voting distribution. Michael Kudis of the Padres finished a close 3rd with JIm Krug also receiving strong support.
Kern's Mets and Emark's Rockies finished 1-2 in the NL with the Mets finishing with a league best 97-65 record and the Rockies close behind at 96-66. They finished 1-2 in run differential as well, this time with the Rockies finished atop the league with +158 while the Mets finished +131. The two teams met in the NLCS and while the Rockies took the series 4 games to 2, the Mets were only outscored 25-20 in the 6 games, while the Rockies moved ahead and took down the Toronto Blue Jays in 6 games to win the NSBL World Series!
Up next are the All-Star teams, to be announced later this week.
