Next up in the award ceremonies is the MVP award, given to the player seen as most valuable in each league. I received 12 votes for each league, with no player receiving a vote from all 12 voters in either league!
In the American League, SS Troy Tulowitzki[/b] of the Texas Rangers edged past Ryan Zimmerman of the Baltimore Orioles (the only AL player to receive 11 votes), while Cliff Lee, Giancarlo Stanton, Clayton Kershaw, Miguel Cabrera, Jay Bruce, and C.C. Sabathia all received strong support as well.
Tulowitzki was the cog in the middle of a Texas lineup that scored more runs (860) than any other team in the NSBL (Baltimore was 2nd with 807). He finished with a batting line of .294(10th)/.365(8th)/.532(6th) [.897 OPS (6th)], 108 R (4th), 123 RBI (1st), 33 HR, 333 TB (4th), 18:5 SB:CS, and a .987 Fielding% (2nd).
In the National League, 3B/1BJose Bautista[/b] adds to his Hank Aaron award by taking home the MVP award, narrowly edging past Ryan Braun of the Pittsburgh Pirates, while Prince Fielder, Dustin Pedroia, and Joey Votto received 10 or more votes.
As noted in the Hank Aaron award thread, Bautista punished National League pitchers to the tune of a .304 (6th) /.415 (2nd) /.615 (1st) triple slash, resulting in an OPS of 1.030 (1st), with 47 HR (1st), 107 R (5th), 145 RBI (1st), 106 BB (2nd), 144 K, and 9:2 SB:CS ratio.
