Top 10 - Tier 1 will begin March 11. Pushed back one week to get last seasons options finished off. Option & CE decisions due by Thursday March 7. Tier 2 will begin 25th. That gives us a week between tiers and time to purchase and review the OOTP disk which releases March 15th. Hayes is a boss. Stepping up to run free agency bidding. Tier 1 will be on the boards. Tier 2 etc, will be normal submission, his instructions pending. Feel like I may be missing some other announcement.... will post here.
Top 10 Corey Seager SS Trea Turner SS Jose Altuve 2B Freddie Freeman 1B
Jung Hoo Lee OF SFG Ketel Marte OF
Yoshinobu Yamamoto SP LAD Shoto Imanaga SP CHC Kevin Gausman SP Chris Sale SP

Sent this as an email to Travis/committee, but figured I'd post here too for leaguewide discussion:

If the disc releases March 15 I would vote we move Tier 1 back to the 18th...give people the opportunity to look at their player in the program before signing. If it was later and we were in a rush I'd say the 11th (or earlier) would be fine, but if it's just 4 days later that's my vote.
Also don't we usually do 2 weeks for Tier 1 (so there isn't a week between tiers?), 5 in one week, 5 in the next?

I will get the boards set up with the first 5 set to hit on Monday. I read Connor's concern so I will batch them with the International Free Agents in the 2nd week, giving everyone a chance to see how they look in the OOTP software. Other than the international guys, everyone else is a well known commodity and I doubt OOTP ratings will have changed significantly from year to year.
Week 1 Corey Seager Trea Turner Jose Altuve Freddie Freeman Kevin Gausman
Week 2 Jung Hoo Lee Ketel Marte Yoshinobu Yamamoto Shoto Imanga Chris Sale
Rules Overview -
1. During Tier 2 FA, all contracts must be a minimum of 2 years.
2. During Tier 3 FA, all contracts are allowed EXCEPT MLIs.
3. During Tier 4 FA, all contracts are allowed and MLI requests are accepted.
4. Players are Free Agency eligible if this is their year 26 season. All birthdays are considered to be 1/1 in NSBL. If they were born in 1997, you can sign them.
5. International free agents signed by MLB will be FA eligible with the "buyer beware" caveat. International free agents signed in real life that do not appear on an MLB Roster will become draft eligible (if they meet age requirements).
6. If you place a bid an a player already owned, it is unlikely I will catch it before I process bids. There are no re-bids.
- When checking on a player to see if he is already on a roster, please use the PLAYER INFO tab on our roster spread sheet. Use Fangraphs to verify the spelling of the name. CTRL-F on the PLAYER INFO tab and type in the name (last, first).
7. You need the following information to make a bid on a player. All these fields are required.
- NAME
- Position
- Age (base on their 1/1 birthdate)
- per year salary
- number of years offered
- option yes or no
8. It is important to complete bidding wars in a timely manner. The expectation is communication. If there is a delay, just let the other person know. If you feel there are special circumstances regarding a delay, please let me know and I'll try to assist.
9. You are responsible for your own roster limits and cap space. I will do my best to update rosters with new signings, but at the end of the day you are responsible for your signings. If you see any potential money issues, please let the committee know before FA starts.
10. Bidding wars are considered resolved when both teams have posted and confirmed the terms of the winning contract. I will not accept email confirmations.
You can submit 3 total bids per day. They can be for new players or counter bids on players from a the previous day.
Here are your minimum bid requirements for 2023.
1 year: $1.400 (double salary of xxx players)
2 years: 1.900
3 years: 2.200
4 years: 2.500
5 years: 2.800
6 years: 3.100
7 years: 3.400
7 years is the maximum contract length.
Starting with T2, send all bids (new and counter offers) to nsbl.bidding@gmail.com by 10 PM EST each day.
Post any questions here.

Thanks to Travis, Connor, and Hayes for putting their time into this. These were really well-explained.
Silly question, but I get nervous every year about messing it up: When we say free agency begins March 11th (Monday), does that mean bids are sent Monday, and then the first high bids are posted Tuesday, or we should start sending bids Sunday night, and the high bids are posted Monday morning?
I think it's the former, but wanted to be sure. Thanks!

EDIT: Or wait- since we do "open bidding" now on Top 10, I'm guessing that just means they are posted on Monday, and we just bid live on the message board. I think that's it!

What is the rule again for open bidding on Tier 1 players?
I thought it was something like, after X amount of days, no new GMs can enter the bidding. Then after 24 hours without an up-bid, that team wins the FA, correct?
