Don't worry about it. Worst case scenerio you can go auto draft. I'm going to over-draft each pick because I haven't updated my research in months.

That’s true. When I trade draft picks to Sean I always account for the extra entertainment value I will get watching him overdraft based on 70-grade names.

I knew we shouldn't have gotten a baseball simulator from the makers of Oregon Trail.

If I plan on sending someone down that doesn't require waivers, how do I do that? I know I can do that in OOTP, but don't we need to let someone know for the spreadsheet?

I may also be getting this confused with MLBSA. Still, we need to let someone know for spreadsheet purposes. Used to be in the e-mail, but now I don't know.

That’s a great question, John.
I think- since we don’t have options in this league- we can do something more radical. Over in MLBSA, they have options, and the whole process is very complex. You’re trying to juggle OOTP, then you have a spreadsheet tab open, and are still posting your roster moves to the board, which a committee member is using to update rosters.
Keeping up with all of that would drive Travis crazy here, and be like a separate job.
*What if we only posted trades here, and just completed all of our own active/reserve moves in OOTP on our own? By the end of the season then, it’d be easy to check AB/IP to see which xxx players become 1st/2nd, which xxx-3rd players move up, etc.
The only thing on GMs would be if they’re trading for xxx players. They would have to check another team’s usage in OOTP to see if their sim cherries have been popped yet.

I was thinking we could just have a thread where we announce our demotions and promotions, then whoever is doing the spreadsheet can update it when they have a few minutes. I think having the spreadsheet updated through the season is helpful for everybody, but especially the committee.
Still waiting on an answer, though. There's a move I want to make, but don't want to mess anything up spreadsheet-wise.

For most lineups, it doesn't take long to update the spreadsheet. There are some owners like Connor, Sean, Ian when he was around, etc who have to make 2 moves every week, then undo it the next, redo it the next, then undo, etc. Basically giving themselves a 28 man rosters with the 25 and 26 spots rotating with the 27 and 28 every week.
But with not having to really load all the different MPs anymore, it would still take less time than it used to for the last two decades.

A lot of my roster manipulation was to take as much advantage of the quirks within DMB than anything else. Having the freedom to rotate your pitchers in and out of reserves helps a lot. But untilI figure out what OOTP does well and understand how player ratings change (and why), it's not really worth it. I think the exception will be when a player is simming extremely poorly compared to projections. During the test sim I went thru multiple relievers because JP Sears underperformed compared to Ashby. Once we all have more experience with this new program, I think we'll find a nice rhythm to roster moves. I think the best thing to do is to create a thread for in-season roster moves the same way we did for off-season ones.
