One of my favorite threads of the year!
Your 2023 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim:
Rotation: 1. Julio Urias - 130 ERA+ 2. Nathan Eovaldi - 117 ERA+ 3. Griffin Canning - 100 ERA+ 4. Wilmer Flores - 100 ERA+ 5. Peyton Battenfield - 95 ERA+
Reserves: Andrew Abbot - 97 ERA+ Matt Manning - 90 ERA+
Bullpen: CL: Rafael Montero - 112 ERA+ SU: Miguel Castro - 109 ERA+ SU: Phoenix Sanders - 110 ERA+ MR: Ryan Thompson - 107 ERA+ MR: Codi Heuer - 101 ERA+ LR: Trevor Williams MU: JB Wendelken - 99 ERA+
Reserves: Edwin Uceta - 90 ERA+ Ryan Weiss - 89 ERA+
Lineup: C: Tom Murphy - 100 OPS+ 1B: Carlos Santana - 104 OPS+ 2B: Dylan Moore - 104 OPS+ SS: Luis Urias - 106 OPS+ 3B: Eugenio Suarez - 102 OPS+ LF: Franchy Cordero - 101 OPS+ CF: Kyle Tucker - 130 OPS+ RF: Hunter Renfroe - 118 OPS+ DH: Rafael Devers - 135 OPS+
Bench: C: Carlos Perez - 84 OPS+ IF: Tucupita Marcano - 76 OPS+ SS: Elvis Andrus - 80 OPS+ OF: DJ Stewart - 98 OPS+ UT: Enmanuel Valdez - 97 OPS+
Reserves: Diego Cartaya - 94 OPS+ Michael Busch - 97 OPS+ DJ Peters - 73 OPS+
Summary:
This team may be one of the more balanced teams I have had. The rotation is solid, so long as either Battenfield or Abbott can lock down that 5th spot in the rotation. Even if they can't, I imagine it will be easier for me to skip my 5th starter using OOTP than it was using DMB. My bullpen is decent, but unspectacular. My lineup consists of a bunch of league-average hitters and 2 stars. Urias should be a good lead-off hitter, then I may hit Tucker and Devers 2 and 3 to get them as many AB's as possible. Renfroe should be a decent clean-up hitter. After that, it's a bunch of guys who can hopefully string a few hits together and maybe a couple dudes who can get 20 HR's (Suarez? Santana? Cordero?) My lineup will only go as far as Tucker and Devers bring them, though. I like the versatility of my bench. Two decent hitters in Stewart and Valdez, both of whom I can plug in virtually anywhere. Two defense-minded guys at positions where defense is valued (Perez and Andrus). And a guy with a cool name (Tucupita).
I haven't looked at the other teams in the AL West, so I have no idea how this stacks up to the competition, but this team should finish in the middle. If everyone outsims their prediction: 2nd. If everyone underperforms: 4th. If everyone does about what I expect: 3rd. If I'm in the wildcard chase come August, I'll be happy camper.

Note: 2B was a need coming into this year, and unfortunately, we haven't found a starter. I still am in need of bullpen help on the back end, and could always use a lineup/rotation upgrade, but I like the way this team looks thus far.

2023 Outlook
I am really looking forward to this team. It is the best team I have put on the field. I have a great top 3 starters with a great bullpen. This is the strength of my team. Pitching wins games. I focused on defense and OBP this year to get a more well rounded hitting and defensive team. I finally have a little pop to drive in runs with some guys who can get on base in front of Riley, Mountcastle, and Vaughn. Dejong was a nice addition to free me up to use some of my average guys to give time off to players. Dejong has a 6 for defense wtih a little power. I am thinking with no shifts anymore, his value as a hitter will go up. Up the middle for defense I have 12 at catcher, 6 at SS, 3 at 2b, and 5 in center field. A great up the middle combination. I of course will have no actual injuries this year and my plans will go exactly as I plan with my first above .500 year and maybe a very outside wild card slot, maybe.

Well I signed one too many outfielders, I wasn't expecting to go 3/3 in T3. But whatever, I'll figure it out. This might be one of the better teams I have fielded. I have that Bauer contract weighing the team down. Don't love that Profar is my best leadoff option. SP depth is Bauer, Sikkema, and Gasser (emergencies only). Bullpen depth involves using Bauer or Sikkema in the rotation and moving Ashby or Sears to the pen. The unlisted positional depth are all speculative players like Dom Smith and Kevin Smith. Both players are canidates to be waived or traded. Taveras will likely be my 6th OF while we see what role, if any, Dominic Fletcher carves out IRL. The team is good and I like it. It's not a championship team. Hopefully, I'll be in a position next off-season to attempt to win something.

The 2023 Mariners are pretty much done, and now just need to make some decisions on some positions and playing time. Overall, it's a more complete team than last year with more balance across the hitting and pitching (last year was more about the hitters). The big acquisitions of Robbie Ray, Aaron Nola, and Clase help sustain he top of the rotations and the 9th inning. Without knowing how the new software would work I tried to add as mush depth across the starters and relievers to allow for bad sims and the ability to plug someone else in.
The hitting has regressed in terms of depth, but still has some pop and consistency to make an impact in each of the spots. The big factor is Albert Pujols (if he's on the disk), and getting him line-up to add some more thump along with depth. The biggest question is who gets the most reps in terms of Josh Bell or Kyle Manzardo. Most likely I'll start with Bell (Manzardo) on reserves and make the change if needed.
Made the ALCS last year with a flawed pitching staff, so I'm hoping this team could just get into the playoffs to see what happens. The AL West is shaping up to be a beast, so this is going to be challenge either way. At least I have some depth to help out anyone who under preforms.

This team can hit! And it can field! It can pitch okay, but nothing spectacular. I ended up coming in ~$7 MM under budget, so it would have been nice to use that money to help get a bit better pitching, but hopefully the depth I have on that end compensates for the lack of elite starting pitching. Three of my signings (Turnbull, Murfee, and Jax) were more geared towards the future, as I believe (hope?) they can have strong seasons this year to get a better projection next. This is the first time I've made signings like that since my early rebuilding phase (Carlos Ruiz and Doug Fister were very key bridge pieces for those teams) so I'm hoping it turns out well, and if I get a productive sim out them this year that's a cherry on top.

ATL really missed out by not having a GM for Tier 1/first few days of tier 2, as they have a lot of money, and could have been a good landing spot for one of the Tier 1 shortstops or starting pitchers.

Came into the off-season with a need for a SP#1 and a SS. I got the short stop. SPitching will be rough and inconsistent I don’t hate my relief guys I could use a true closer though. Upside 8-9 of the pitching staff is available for next year and 11 of the position players can return.
Needs #1 and closer and CF
Should have a lot of money to go get these pieces for 2024

Even though it often came at my expense, great job bidding for the BOT teams, Connordog.
Every single one of them has enough talent that if a GM were interested, he could either add a few pieces to contend, or sell some big names to start a serious rebuild. In terms of keeping the league healthy, this is an unheralded effort that should pay dividends. Great work,
JIm
