So, there are pros and cons to moving to OOTP. I want to open up a forum to discuss them all. This post will start with the annual recurring cost of running an OOTP online league.
GMs will have to buy the new version of OOTP each offseason to continue to participate. Access to the online league is only available using the game release. The cost has been $40 in recent years.
So, we all know that OOTP will release on time with numbers based on Dan's projections and then tweaked for their game. Big PRO.
The team interface is pretty simple and gives you massive control over rotation, relief roles and usage, and lineups. The forums and FAQs answer all the questions pertaining to setting lineups and pitching staffs. It's in-depth, but not complex. Big PRO.
DMB is familiar and and the interface is simple to use, but lacks the ability to add any nuance to strategy. Familiar is a PRO. RP usage is a CON.
I'd be happy to discuss more pros and cons with everyone while we figure this thing out. We lost a couple guys this offseason. I want us to make a decision that is good for the longevity of the league while retaining as many GMs as possible. The other part of the equation is to add new blood to the league and OOTP may assist with that because it is a more modern game.
Sound off and vote in the poll please! Thanks!

I think the only real cons are the price of admission and whatever backend stuff that the committee needs to do to get things running smoothly. It's easier to make lineup adjustments, and you can download/upload your changes within the software (so no need to download > import > make changes > export > send email).
Also, there is a spring training feature that allow you to have a player learn or master a position. This makes playing a pure SS at 2B (or some kind of move like that) more viable.

I am highly in favor. I think the pros highly outweigh the cons. Everything we love about this league (except the free part) will be the same if not improved. The interface is pretty easy to troubleshoot and figure out by yourself. The transition *should* be pretty seamless.
It also seems like the price isn't an issue for most (I accidentally voted for 'yes', but I meant to vote 'no').

I believe we should switch, and I voted that way. However, from playing MLB Manager 2017 (precursor to current OOTP build), the original OOTP Go! and now OOTP Go! 2023 for the past 6-7 years on my phone, I can also say with confidence that some of the things that most frustrate us about the Diamond Mind sim engine are still present here:
1. Elite players (4-4.5-5 star in OOTP rating) will still sim incredibly poorly. I feel like this was fixed in previous versions, but they've fiddled with the variability for the newest version. I know the counterargument of, "Even great players can have bad real-life seasons!", but once you hit a certain level of player, you should be guaranteed an above-average season; it just a matter of how good.
2. In the newest version in particular, it is almost pointless to trade for a player down the stretch run. Not only does it "reset" their production like I've long theorized for DM, but more often than not, they perform incredibly poorly with their new team. Most seasons, I end up cutting or demoting the guys I traded for in July if my team makes the postseason.
I still think a switch is in order, simply because the DM builds are getting later and later, and it kills the momentum of a league to start 1-2 months after Opening Day, because then none of your sim dates line up with reality. But caveat emptor: OOTP still has some of DM's most vexing problems.
