Roster link here. This is the initial roster update - everyone is moved to 2023 data, updated Arbitration, Free Agency and Salary Caps. Please review for content & errors. Lots of copy and paste, and harder to QC this year for some reason. Winter draft begins on Jan 1. So let's say Option decisions by Feb 1 with Free Agency around March (TBD). Top 10 not decided yet. Overall lots of FA dollars last year boosted revenue from 1.66M/win in 22 to 1.85M in 23. Everyone will see that boost. I expect given the psychotic contracts in MLB that next year will be big again. Minimum rookie salary boosted to 700k. This catches us up to MLB, after falling behind, should remain stable for 4 years, then to 750k around 2027. I boosted all rookie contracts to 700 before arb calcs. All 2nd years (going into 3rd) players were given 195k as their boost (the minimum) before arb. 3rd-5th players were given a 15% boost before arb adjustment. This seemed to work decent and if anything under sold the increase. I may have to consider boosting 3-5th year arbitration calcs in future seasons, but for now keep it simple. If we do adjust that formula, it will be a public discussion. My concern is the crazy FA money that MLB is now all in on. We've seen it in our league a bit. The file should be read-only for everyone - this is so I can manage any changes until we're sure there are no bugs. The permanent link will be updated in a few weeks. All inquiries will be answered - someday soon. Happy Holidays! and Merry Baseball!

Great work! Can't wait to dive into this after the holidays.
Looks like I'll have the most money to spend I've ever had in this league, but also a lot of spots to fill. Can't wait to see how I mess this one up!

I didn't roster Chris Paddack at all in 2022 in order to keep him as a 3rd year status. The file shows him as 4th year. Can you please change that?

shit you're right. 3rd should stay 3rd. I misremembered the rule. Will make that note. There's about 20 changes. There were about 7 4th years that didn't play and got bumped to 5th.
Fix is complete

Thanks for your hard work, Travis. I have a question about the 2022 reserves column. I was sure to not exceed the max -$10MM cap in 2022, and did so with a lot of cash traded to me from other GMs. Here mine is listed as -$19.041MM. Is that just done so your 2023 numbers work out correctly, or is that a mistake? Thanks,
JIm

That number is showing -19.041M. I haven't done any calculations to update that, nor did I review it's historical accuracy. It's supposed to be a straight carry-over. Any traded cash would be in the Traded Cash column.

Hi Travis, Just to follow up on this so it's figured out before free agency begins, I was hoping for some clarification on my -19.041MM over cap column. I know even though I push my limits, I never exceeded the -10.000M over cap threshold this past year. Not only is that not permitted in the league, but somebody (like Colby) would've caught it right away. I *thought* it read that way because a lot of cash was traded to me, but the Traded Cash column doesn't support that. I looked back and found Ian's 2022 roster link, and it now shows the same -19.041, so it's not that I think something shady is going on... docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yCxpH7Z11npATz_rYJZiGlq64LtoT8nQNvGAyZkqTv4/edit#gid=0But given how competitive guys are here, I know nobody would've given me an extra $10MM over cap allotment this past year. My desktop finally crashed this past fall, so I lost all of my NSBL roster files over the past 20 years. Any idea what may have happened here? Thanks man, JIm

Not looking to butt it, but looks like none of the salary coverage for the PIT/LAA trade was applied. The trade is still sitting in pending from Oct.

It appears that it slipped thru the cracks. I'll work with Travis to get this corrected. I appreciate your patience and sorry for the slip up.

I asked for clarification last year in email and I don't believe it was ever answered, so I left the money part untouched and only moved players. Then I did forget about it. The post was confusing. Where the players are listed, it shows that salary should be going with them. But then underneath it says different. "To LAA: 2nd C Tom Murphy V UTIL Dylan Moore (salary paid by PIT) To PIT: V RP Tyler Kolarek (salary paid by LAA) V INF Yermin Mercedes (salary paid by LAA) V OF Hunter Renfroe (salary paid by LAA) The only salary changing will be +$0.715MM, as LAA is taking on Murphy’s 2nd year salary."

Thanks Sean and Hayes. Looking back at Ian's 2022 spreadsheet (which I'm assuming was maintained through the end of the season), that looks to check out.
Dylan Moore -2.420
Adam Kolarek +3.000 Yermin Mercedes +2.500 Hunter Renfroe +7.442
That looks like a net increase to my payroll of +10.522. I was a little less than 9.000 over my cap prior to that trade with John, so if this is just adjusted, the cap should be fixed. Thanks again for the follow-up,
JIm

Thanks again for the follow-up, JIm In the future, everyone should do the math on the salaries being exchanged and include the final numbers in the trade itself. Leaving math that impacts your future to a 3rd party is not a good idea. I get that this was a misunderstanding and the fix appears to be simple. I'd just like this to be a cautionary tale for everyone. Do the math. Post the results in the trade. Leave nothing to chance or interpretation.

Or you could just fix the cap mistake without having to turn me into a cautionary tale and scolding to the league.
I did nothing wrong. John did nothing wrong. It simply got missed. Cool. No big deal.
It can just be fixed without having to spin it like I did something deceptive with the trade. Thanks,
JIm

There was nothing shady about what you guys did. It was just unclear and relied on committee members to understand what you wanted done instead of just showing the work.
My advice is to take the extra step when posting the trade to make it perfectly clear what cash is changing hands.
