With CE projections for Kyle Schwarber and Chris Taylor being very favorable, I'm taking a gamble and putting Javier Baez back out on the block, especially for teams missing out on big name FA for their infield. What keeps Baez from being truly elite is his OBP, but everything else is excellent. His 2021 projections are:
3.3 WAR 29 HR +2 def 102 OPS+
I'm not sure if the 2021 fielding ratings are out yet, but here's how Baez rated from 2020, from the Pirates roster page:
1b: Vg/99 2b: Ex/110 3b: Av/107 Ss: Vg/108
I'm probably nuts to trade him now, since I want to contend this year. But if doing so can allow me to extend Taylor and (maybe) Schwarber another year, it may be worth it.
I'm looking for at least a draft pick and a good pitching prospect in return. I don't think that's too much to ask for a 3.3 WAR player at multiple marquee defensive positions at this point in the offseason. Thanks!
