That home/road split on Long is scary though.

That home/road split on Long is scary though. You stop that! Any college junior (roughly Long's age) would love to have his .900+ OPS in the Florida League criticized...

Biagini is weird, and not at all the direction I was expecting to go. Entering the draft I was realistically hoping for Cristian Pache or Jacob Nix, or for one of my top draft guys to fall. None of that happened, so I took a guy I find fascinating and like to watch in Biagini. At the very lest I'll be able to root for a guy I already like watching pitch! Given my history of drafting older SPs at the major league level, I'm hoping he's more Corey Kluber than Cody Anderson, but he's a different profile than both of those guys. With all of that said, he's super old (just turned 27) and only recently converted to starting. He's been up and down as a SP so far, but if he sticks there I think it's a solid value pick. I plan on getting some high upside guys with my remaining picks. My next pick (hopefully later tonight if NYY picks before too long, and then MIA will be an auto-pick) [EDIT: Great job picking fast Shawn! Loving the new active you ] is a player I liked more than Biagini, but I was more confident he would slip past the Yankees and make it to 2.19.

Never heard of Austin Slater, but holy hell has he run roughshod through his first 4 years of pro ball. That looks like a great pick.
Bummed on Victor Caratini. Dude was prolly going to be my next pick, and I hoped he was still largely under the radar.

Yay! He made it to me. I mostly drafted Dustin May so that Clint Frazier could have a fellow ginger on the squad. Having players with similar backgrounds is crucial in helping the players feel comfortable in the clubhouse and properly develop. I assume this holds true in simulation land as well?

I'm glad I didn't wait on picking him. I was going to wait till my next pick and pick up someone else. Hope he is still there

Dan doesn't respect grinders in his projections. But Dan also still lives with his parents. But the sim respects grinders, and any GMs here that DON'T respect grinders learn the hard way when they play the Pittsburgh Pirates. JIm

What do grinders have to do with my ginger clone, Clistin Mazier?

I have the utmost respect for Italian, Turkey or Meatball Grinders. I dont understand any other nonsense related to predicting or projecting grinders. Does Dan work for the food channel now?

Sadly the Organ Grinder Profession has migrated south due to the high tax rate on monkey partnership since they unionized so our organs go unplayed.

i don't get the caveman comment on Rodgers. What did I miss? There is a huge National Monument in Carlsbad called Carlsbad Caverns. Truly, about the only good thing about the state. Beautiful to go and just spend hours walking the miles of pathways under the surface of the earth they've paved for you. If you go to the NM for any other reason, you're wasting your time. But because of that, the local high school mascot is the Caveman.

Dammit. I thought you said "grinders", Connor.
Your 27-year old is definitely a grinder. I've never even drafted anyone that age.

Good, I'm in no rush, but the elapsed time between his last pick and this one came so fast, I didn't want him to blow this one.

Nice pick of Thompson. I just traded for him in MLBSA. Nice upside. He was on my radar to take over here as well.

In November last year, I was researching potential first round picks that fell due to injury / Tommy John surgery. It was a coin toss between Mitch White and Thompson in the winter draft and I chose White, but Thompson was my summer target since then. It was a long 50 pick wait for him. Between them, I feel like I scored a pair of first round caliber arms without having a first round, or top of the winter draft pick.

I also like the Thompson pick, love his upside. I was hoping him and Austin Slater would fall. Good picks all over!

I like that Austin Hays pick. I was hoping he would be off the grid enough to fall to me in the 3rd round. He was crushing A ball pitching this year.

I was all over the place on this pick. I don't know how smart it is to use a second round pick on a pitcher with a back injury. TJ surgery is less scary but I think he was a consensus 1st round pick prior to the injury and is likely to be again next year.

I was hoping he and Heliot would make it to my next pick.

Upside at the back end of round two is certainly warranted imo.

I am starting to get to the point where I don't feel comfortable discussing picks in either league, unless that player is gone in both leagues. With Hayes, Johnny Angels, New Jason (BTW- Old Jason just announced that he and his wife are pregnant with their first child), and BrIm Emaug all in both leagues, I don't want to tip my hand.

I can't back this up with paperwork but I know Jim has selected more players already owned in the draft than the rest of the league combined.
