Does Pat know the 24 hour clock is on now?

Pretty sure he does. And he knows he's up. I emailed him last night.

Good picks of Urias and Adell. Both were in my short list. I almost took Urias at #5 but Fowler filled a more immediate need. I have a good idea of who I'm taking but I want to check some things first. I'll have my pick up in a couple hours.

Looking at his career, didn't totally understand the Fowler pick that early in the draft. I don't know prospects all that well, but he looks like a 2nd rounder to me.

JIm Yeah, CF who hit 15 or more home runs and steal 20 or more bases a year while giving you above average defense are 2nd round picks. And that's almost his floor now. He's 22 in AAA. He's not 4 years away where you're hoping he develops into something like that, like Adell or Lewis or Beck. He's already there.

I couldn't stand to see Tatis fall any more. Top 75 prospect now probably. Holding his own in low A as an 18 year old. Showing power and should be a plus defender. Urias was more of a sure thing here, but I think Tatis has the higher ceiling.

I don't love taking a middle infielder with no power and little speed at pick 8, but anyone who walks more than he K's - especially as a 20 YO in AA - is ok by me. Hopefully he'll stick at SS, but if he hits, he'll play somewhere.

He's young for his level, but also has a career .316 minor league OBP, and this is his first year above an .800 OPS. Maybe he'll be good, but still seems like a real reach to me for a top-5 pick. JIm

I love the Urias and Tatis Jr. pick. I was hoping to have the opportunity to take one of them this draft.

Nice pick of Bubba Starling, I mean Austin Beck, Jim. If it all works out and he reaches his ceiling, maybe in 4 years he'll be a RH version of Dustin Fowler.

I understand that some, often including myself, look for more immediate gratification, but I was wondering where Tatis would go. In my opinion, this is a very weak draft class and one could make an argument that Tatis is the best pick of this draft to date. I think he's the real deal and he's showing the much older competition exactly that every day. In my opinion, this is a steal here. Two thumbs up Ty.

I'm under your skin. Dustin Fowler wears Austin Beck pajamas, even though he's 4 years older than him. Total humiliation. JIm

PS Dustin Fowler's career minor league OBP (.316) is only 8 points higher than Bubba Starling's career minor league OBP (.308). JIm

Tatis is a guy I was really looking at last Winter and targeting. He was the one guy on my list that I was considering that wasn't taken. I asked Connor before this draft if he thought I had any chance of Tatis falling to me again, and he said it was unlikely. He was right. I like the Urias pick but I do worry about what he becomes. He reminds me a lot of Ruben Tejada and a lot of Jose Altuve. I am guessing Urias ends up somewhere in the middle. I really doubt he ends up at SS though. The scouting reports make it sound like that's a pipe dream and he's certain to be a 2B. But I think he has enough pop to keep pitchers honest. I like the pick. He and Tatis were the two hitters at the top of my wish list for 1.16.

Pretty much had my pick chosen for me. Urias, Tatis Jr and Beck were all in the same tier as Bukauskas for me.

He was 2nd on my prospect board behind Leyba, and part of that is my prospect situation. Seems like everyone but Sickels likes this guy. Plus defender that might have power and base stealing ability. Nice pick.

I cannot believe Tatis did not go in the Winter draft, I had him in my Top 10 available then, and in top 5 of this draft. Urias, Fowler, and Leyba I had as top 20 talents this Summer. All the selections so far have been solid, Glad to see everyone did their homework. Had Greene gone #1, I would have had a tough decision between Tatis, Royce Lewis, and Kyle Wright.

Interesting, I saw he will be on a very tight pitch count. With KCs rotation in such disarray right now I think Strahm has a good chance to stick in the rotation...but I also said that in December.

Honestly, had I known Tatis were available , I would've taken him instead of Urias. I crossed him off because I assumed he was drafted. Oops.

Drafting Shane Baz as the highest ceiling pitcher after the top 3. Just hope I'm around long enough to use him! The risk with HS pitchers.

Joe, I think you meant: Cubs take Keston Hiura - hitter - UC Irvine.

Baz and Hiura went far later than I thought they would; I started to have some hope they'd fall to me.

After Urias and Tatis went, Huira and Baz moved to the top of my list. I liked Baz's upside more, but for team needs, Huira was my top selection. Right 2B bat (and yes, Tracy, I think he'll be a 2B long term). If he can be a 280 hitter jacking out 20 bombs a year I'll be happy.

I was a little unprepared for this draft, but I am happy with my 2 picks. I wanted Adell and almost took him at 7 to make sure he did not go 8. You guys are higher on Tatis than I am. I will be interested to track him now and see what happens with him. Love the drafts and the talk afterwards. There is one guy left on the board who I am pretty high on, so if anyone wants to trade a pick thats upcoming, let me know. ppadula14@gmail.com

Mike, I like your pick a lot. I never even knew this guy existed, but looking over his minor league numbers, he appears to be a step above just an organizational guy, despite never hitting top prospect lists. Well done.

I had no idea Lucius Fox was even still available. #noprep I thought he was taken a year or so ago, but I'm probably thinking of another SS in that signing class. Lara maybe?
