Crud Krug. I figured out why. I was using an older roster file to Ctrl+F, rather than the updated one. #jimfail2017 Thanks Mark, JIm Fixed it for ya. If only there were a new roster updated weekly and multiple links to said roster. If only....

I can't back this up with paperwork but I know Jim has selected more players already owned in the draft than the rest of the league combined. Ever? I don't think so. Of owners still in the league. Possibly. Edit: On second thought: Scott.

I can't speak to pre-2010 but since then it seems to me it is a runaway victory for Jim, even considering the Ross factor.

I love all of this ball busting, and I 100% deserve every bit of it.

That Humphreys pick is interesting to me. I watched a start of his earlier this year and can't figure out how he does it. Generally, guys in the low minors are either dominating with velo, or dominating with deception or a nasty pitch. Humphreys does neither. He barely broke 90 when I saw him and his offspeed stuff looked rather pedestrian, yet he missed bats all night and dominated in his start. I had him on my board, but couldn't pull the trigger if I couldn't make sense of his results. Should be an interesting one to watch. I generally cheer on guys like him that break today's "standard mold" of SP.

Brian looks to be making the 2017 draft his personal playhouse. Jansen is one of only a handful of position players that stood out to me in this draft, but, imo, all three of his picks have been among the best in this draft and one that should be looked back upon favorably.

Both of these picks to start the 3rd round have been excellent. But you have to admit, it looks like Danny Jansen watches at least 3 hours of porn a day. Like, he's actually learned how to speak Japanese just from all of the porn he watches. JIm

So are you insinuating that those aren't corrective lenses, but rather splash guards?

Heath Quinn has a pretty good bat, and has put together quite the resume over his first 2 pro years. Great pick.

Yeah, I had Quinn high on my board too. I just have a thing against eskimos.

Decided I didn't want to wait any longer on the HS pitcher I was holding out on. I hope it works out with Mercado.

It may be a smidge early, but I understand the idea not waiting until your next pick to pop him now. He was a top-3 target for my pick at 4.05. The other 2 are still on the board...let's hope they fall!

Oh my gosh I am never going to live this year down. Okay, in my defense, he was on the Houston Astros affiliate in 2016. I did not realize the Dominican League didn't count, since it is a part of affiliated US baseball. Sorry guys. Pirates still on the clock. Going to go mow the grass and reconsider my backup. JIm If only the rules clearly stated something about the Dominican Summer League or something... International free agents signed by MLB are not eligible for the draft until such time as they have completed their first season of professional ball in the United States (no Dominican Summer, Mexican, Venezuelan League, etc). Arizona Fall League does count. International players who play even one game in the Major Leagues lose their draft eligibility and are only available via free agency.

Dang, looked like I took the two pitchers I wanted in the wrong order. I was hoping Duplantier would make it to pick 3.15. Nice pick. Back to the list to find my next pick now.

Banking on the chance that he becomes a dominant closer the New York Mets will select their first ever (at the time of the draft) reliever: Phil Maton - RHP - San Diego Padres Nice pick! That's the player I was debating about when I took Ellis that caused me to run a bunch of test sims. He did pretty well for me, typically in the 2.50-3.50 ERA range over the course of a full season and close to 100 innings (I put him in as mop up and long). But he just didn't move the needle enough for me this year to justify taking him in the 2nd round. But I really like him.

I almost took Paredes in the 2nd but thought I could wait a little more on him.

Big Tejeda fan. Drafted him last year in MLBSA. Love that he is playing SS over 2B nearly 2:1.

I also like Tejeda a bit. His swing and miss scared me away, but gotta love the up the middle power potential.

Tejeda was one of the top 2 players I wanted with this pick. Nice pickup.
I'm going with upside as well in Austin Franklin. We shall see.
Unless I trade for a pick my draft is over:
1.04 Royce Lewis, OF 2.05 Zach Littell, RHP 2.10 Drew Waters, OF 2.15 Thairo Estrada, 2B/SS 3.04 Michael Mercado, RHP 3.15 Austin Franklin, RHP

I was worried with Marsh exploding onto the scene in the last week that someone would pop on him. He was drafted last year by the Angels as an ultra athletic 2-way star and the Angels bought him out of his football scholarship. But I guess during the physical they discovered a back injury which delayed his signing and caused a lot of back and forth. So he didn't play at all last year and was in Extended until just the other day. But in the 5 games since being activated for Short Season ball he's done this in 27 plate appearances:
6 singles 3 doubles 2 triples 1 homer 2 walks 4 strikeouts 2 stolen bases
Good enough for a 480/519/880 line so far, but it is still early. I think if he keeps it up for another couple weeks though, they challenge him with full-season ball since he did miss time last year.

Bring it up this off-season as a possible rule change. The dynamics of the committee are constantly changing and you never know how it's going to swing. I can tell you honestly that I like it when it comes to the major leaguers, but not the minor leaguers. I like to see us get a whiff of what some of these guys do before we spend obscene amounts on them in free agency, but at the same time I wish we could get minor leaguers a year earlier than we do.
But also, I sorta like the fact that Winter is the first time many of them are available, so it helps the poorer finishing teams get better talent. So it's got its benefit as well.

Since I consistently draft so low due my inability to retain higher picks, I have to keep an eye on talented players with flaws. Marsh was on my list as a guy that would slide to 3rd round. It's a great value pick.
