Everything is looking good. Let's open Free Agency Friday at 5pm. That's 24 hour notice FWIW. Post claims in Free Agency thread. All claims are guaranteed ML minimum.
Plan is to do first sim this weekend - 3 game weekend series. Just trying to give the last couple of GMs a chance to post. Though missing 3 shouldn't hurt. We'll run our normal once weekly schedule with Saturday morning sims for a few weeks. Then see about doing a some twice a weeks to make up a little bit of time - up for discussion.

Question,
Do we even need zips to use ootp? For FA next season and FA that starts later tonight. Can that just be pushed back until ootp comes out and do it in the software based on player ratings in it?
If that is being considered is there a need to catch up? Let the season start in its course and then have less down time until the software comes out?
Just things I’m thinking about since zips seems to mean nothing for ootp.

Also, if injuries are going to be a big thing do we need to do something about roster size to account for that?

1. I don't think injuries should be a big thing. Unless I'm misinterpreting, I think we voted to turn injuries a notch below standard, since in the experience of a few of us, "standard" rates are pretty frequent with OOTP. We also agreed to not allow season-ending injuries, and max out at 60-day injuries- I think Diamond Mind maxed around 45-50 days. My *guess* is injuries may be slightly higher than Diamond Mind, but we can adjust the rates in-season if everybody thinks we should.
2. I *think* OOTP still puts out their own projections, which is part of what led the push for us to move over- they were pushing out their projections months ahead of Diamond Mind's plodding pace, even when ZiPS actually came out on time. I agree that ZiPS doesn't seem to factor into OOTP's projections, but if you do start the season before the new OOTP projections are ready, you could have a crazy sim where guys start out simming one way, and then switch when the updates come out.

PS To your larger point, I'm all about starting the season on time though. I've long thought GM engagement would be a lot higher if our sim season closely matched the schedule of real-life MLB. I think with OOTP, we at least finally have a chance of that.

OOTP definitely takes more liberties. Players with good ZiPS are not necessarily good in OOTP and vice versa. I think it's worth considering delaying free agency until OOTP releases each year, but it also adds an element of uncertainty that we haven't really had since DMB adopted ZiPS. I'm OK with either. Giving out contracts to marginal relievers with OK ZiPS, however, I am less OK with now.

I still don't have Eugenio Suarez on my team in OOTP. Whoever adds him can just plug him into my lineup for me at 3B. I left a hole there for him.
