Jim, we can't simulate a player's desire for security. It's literally a personal decision for each individual player and there are no unbiased metrics we can use to simulate it. I think that's a little bit of a copout, Sean. You can't simulate a player's desire for security anymore than you can a player's desire for absolute risk-it-all bottom-line top dollar. Every other Diamond Mind league I've been a part of has had a system in place where teams can buy out a player's remaining arbitration years plus at least 2 more additional FA years by committing millions of guaranteed dollars early. In exchange for taking on that risk, they are mitigated by paying lower than what the player would expect to fetch- assuming they stay healthy and their production continues to grow- on the open market. That's realistic, and it follows what Major League Baseball does every year.

Jim, I think you are the only person who wants to bring back the CE+2 system. And I think you are the only person who complained when that was changed. She left. It's over. Move on.
But it would be interesting to discuss a potential early CE that starts in year 4 and could extend to more than 1 free agent year.
The prior CE+2 was way too team friendly, and even a good amount of the current CE+1 are relatively team friendly.
I'm glad you have notifications on when I post. My posts are straight fire cuh.
